Got to the hotel and the front desk all had frowns. They wanted to charge us more than we had confirmed. No air conditioning at all. When was the last time you stayed at a 5 star hotel with no air. They gave us fans. No extra beds for the little ones. I felt like I was in a small city in Russia. So over priced. I couldn't sleep due to the heat. The hotel had a "who cares" attitude. Don't stay here, you will be very dissapoined, unless you like hotels that are tired, sad and from the early 60's. We checked out the next morning. It will not last, they must be going broke.

We were part of a large family party which booked many rooms at this hotel in the summer of 2004. Initially, I was placed in a dreary, top-floor room with little light. I politely requested, vigorously asked, and then demanded a change to a room with a bit more light. I am skilled at communication, and am not generally considered "difficult," but the front desk was nearly intransigent at first, eventually agreeing to move me.

The room was adequate; more light this time. Bed was comfortable; bath was spacious and well-designed.

The breakfast was outstanding.

Without doubt the location of this ***** Steigenberger hotel in the heart of Augsburg's city right on the Maximilianstrasse is one of the best in town, the hotel however is in our view far from five star. We were offered a dodgy, smelling outdated room with a bathroom that might have been hip in the 70s, far from today's standards.

This hotel urgently needs refurbishment! We cancelled our reservation and went to the Dorint Novotel, which is c1km from the city center but while being rated **** only, offers modern, clean and stylish rooms, all with a balcony and fantastic views of the city, certainly better value for money, especially for those travelling by car.

Avoid the Steigenberger Drei Mohren, this hotel does not deserve its ***** official rating!

The Steigenberger Drei Mohren Hotel is also a member of the SRS World Hotel chain. Closely situated close to the railway station and historic zone along the famous Maximillianstrasse so provides easy access for excellent shopping and sigtseeing in the city. There is a private and secure carpark at the rear of the hotel. Look out for special offers on the SRS website as they offer some terrific deals from time to time.

Our deal for two nights included half board and added bonus was an upgrade to a suite with fresh fruit basket and free guide book of the city on arrival. Rooms are clean but are stating to look a little dated but nevertherless offers a relaxing stay. Excellent choice of hot and cold buffet breakfast with a squeeze your own fruit juice device. Children stay free.

There are two restaurants which we tried and found the food very satisfying, We had a meal at the french Bistro 3M and mediterranean Maximillians outside on the verandah and then onto the trendy Trio Lounge Bar, which I thoroughly enjoyed with its efficient and friendly staff. Internet access in the lobby available for a fee using the I-Bahn cards.

This hotel is thoroughly recommended hotel and its staff were faultless, very efficient and friendly service.
