“Good hotel - bit old - excellent staff”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 March 2010

Stayed here 4 nights during an exhibition. Although booked and confirmed there was no non-smoking room. They gave me room 319 which has old furniture and smells smoky. After I complained they changed into 417 which has no furniture and is completely smoke-free. Staff was very freindly altough fully booked.
Hotel interior is a bit old fashioned and would be nicer if ther ther was more light.
Brekafast for 20 EUR is quite expensive. They did not offer just coffe or tea. Location is excellent in downtown but if you have a room towards the street there is noise all night long (cars, people) and you must close window.
Staff was very competent and friendly - especially the bar tender. IF booked via hotels.com 1 night out of 4 was free and this was a very good deal.
Car park conveniently located behind the hotel.

“No soul”

The worst of a series of 9 x 1-night stops during a tour of Germany, Austria and Switzerland. Mainly because there was no atmosphere or friendly greeting, no attempt to speak non-German when we were struggling... the price, with no breakfast, was typical of this type of hotel but simply did not compare to some of the smaller, cheaper hotels we stayed in in other locations which offered superb breakfast and friendly service at half the cost.

Great place to stay if you're travelling on business. Avoid it if you want like a personal touch.

“Solid Hotel with Great Location in City Center of Augsburg”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 April 2009

We spent a weekend here with our two young children under 7. We booked two connecting rooms which included breakfest for 170 Euros a night. Overall, we would stay here again for the hotel's location, charm, and generally good service. We arrived by taxi and had a lot of luggage, but there are no bellboys at the hotel so a women from the front desk brought a small cart (it could not accomodate our larger bags). She was helpful, though, and checked us in quickly and efficiently. One of our connecting rooms was not ready yet, but we went to the first room. The rooms were very large, spotless, and had a good mix of old world furnishings/modern conveniences. We enjoyed the artwork throughout the hotel. Great views of the main street in Augsburg from the rooms Two small negatives on the rooms (that are not uncommon in Europe): (1) no air conditioning which was fine during our stay as the weather was not hotter than 65 F or 18 C. However, the days before our arrival, it was a heatwave in Europe and I would have worried about the comfort of the room; and (2) one of the two King beds was to twins put together.

Breakfast was outstanding, one of the best we have had in Europe. Serivce was great at breakfast as well. We had a couple small requests from the hotel and they handled them with no problem.

We would come again in the Fall, Winter, and Spring. However, I am not sure if we would come during the summer due to the lack of air conditioning (not a problem for the adults, but for our children might be a problem).

“Awful”

With the Drei Mohren, the experience certainly does not live up to expectations.
Check-in was a bit tedious and I was uninpressed with the linguistic skills of front desk staff. Having booked a King Bed room I was first given a twin and had to return to reception to get a double bed room. Which was still not a King by accepted standards unless I have recently grown to over 2 m, as when laying across the bed my feet were still in the air. The room furbishing was very average either.
The worst problem was with the wireless connection which I badly needed this being a business trip. The wireless was definitely not working in my room and the only answer I got from the front desk was that "it was working in all other nearby rooms" (I had a kind of a corner room) - not very helpful I have to say. I ended up working at midnight in the lobby, not my conception of 5* experience.
I may have been unlucky but, sorry guys, you've lost me as a guest for my future stays.

“Very Nice Hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 April 2008

We stayed at the Steigenberger this past March. The weather was cold and damp, but the beauty of Augsburg still came through. The Hotel is located in the middle of town, near most of the shopping and the towns attractions. There is an American style mall within walking distance if that is your thing, but there are plenty of local shops and restaurants around the hotel. The town plaza is within a few hundred yards of the hotel and on a warm day, it fills with people carousing and sitting outside in the cafés.

The rooms in the hotel were fabulous. They were very clean and spacious. The furnishings were very modern. Obviously this Hotel has been well taken care of . The staff was friendly and courteous. Most of them spoke English so we had no trouble communicating. There is a pool on the bottom floor but we did not use it. It looked nice enough, but we did not bring a bathing suit. Go figure, Germany in the winter and I left my bathing suit at home.

There is a very nice restaurant inside the hotel along with a bar and lounge. The restaurant is a bit pricey but the food is excellent. There are TV sets inside the rooms with plenty of channel options and Internet access. If you have small children traveling with you, I suggest you do not let them watch TV on their own. Some channels are for mature audience only. They offer only a brief preview, but more than enough for a peep show. Hey, it’s Germany!

One suggestion, when booking a room at the Steigenberger Drei Mohren ask for a full bathtub. My room had one, but my friends only had a shower. The rooms were equal in any other aspect, but if you like to take baths, I suggest you request the full bathtub. Not a deal breaker by any means.

All in all we enjoying staying at the Steigenberger Drei Mohren and would highly recommend it.
