Stayed at Hotel Cocoon during Oktoberfest 2010. Good value hotel near Theresienwiese, the official ground for the Munich Oktoberfest. Clean but small rooms, good wifi connection and friendly staff.

Really enjoyed this hotel. Nothing was a problem. Felt as if we were friends rather than guests. Team Ireland approve! :-)

The hotel is modern - decorated with bright design-icon furniture but the water feature in the lobby makes the air smell of chlorine & reminded me of a swimming pool. The elevator was in a concrete hallway. Room was large and bright with stylish furniture but the gimmick of having a sliding door that was used for both shower and toilet was not very practical. Also, the hotel is obviously over a subway line as trains could be heard rumbling from my first flloor room. That was ok but it seems that after each train had passed the wooden furnishings (there was a lot of wood) creaked loudly. This was very disturbing & disconcerting the first night. Also the room was only partially carpeted which did not make for comfort. It would probably be better to stay here in warmer weather.
There is no restaurant to have an evening meal. Breakfast was fine but the coffee from a machine was undrinkable.

Easy walk to 2 U-bahn stations, so all of the main attractions were easy to reach by public transportation. They have a person at the front desk 24hrs. This is not always the case with small hotels and guest houses in Germany. This was helpful because we had to checkout early to catch an early train. They serve a great breakfast with a wonderful selection of fresh breads, but they do charge a little extra for it. The rooms are done in a 60's retro style which is cute. However, there is no privacy. The shower is glassed in and adjacent to the bed, not in a separate room. The toilet is in an actual water closet. The lack of privacy was not a problem for us. We've been married 20 years. I wouldn't recommend it for a romantic weekend for a new couple. I enjoyed our stay here.
