We stayed there during Oktoberfest 2008. For the price it was OK. We spent one night in a room with a communal bathroom, and two nights in a room with its own bathroom( it was nicer).The rooms are above a pub that was a bit loud and smoke came up into the rooms. I assume that the pub would be open and noisy all year around and not just busy because of Oktoberfest, so bring some earplugs. The staff spoke hardly any English (which isn't that bad, we're in Germany after all) but we were almost charged more than 300 euros more than we should have and it took a bit of work to try to communicate and fix the error. Besides all of that, it was close to the Bahnhof and not too far from the festival grounds. Parking was hit or miss, there was parking on the street or in a garage a few blocks away. It served our needs but with no frills.

Great little find in Munich. Must admit we were a little wary as it was just about the only place we could find that had availability (who would have thought that a cardiologists convention would take over an entire city?), but we were very pleasantly surprised. We were in the first room (actually located outside the front door of the pension - 1st floor), which had a couch and private bathroom. More expensive than usual due to the convention, but still only EU100. Double glazing kept the noise out nicely (room was on the road, but didn't bother us at all), and breakfast was great. We were only there the one night, but couldn't fault this great little place (perfect location as we arrived and left by train).

I stayed at Pension Asta for 2 nights, 1 & 2 Oct 2008 during the last few days of Oktoberfest. To find a room during this time for EUR70 per night (share bathroom) was amazing. The B&B is on level 1 of 2 Seidlstr. opposite the side entrance of Munich Hbf. and within 10 min walk of the "Wiese" or Oktoberfest fair ground. It is approx. 15-20 mins walk to the Rathaus/Marienplatz.

(And can I highly recommend the Ratskeller Restaurant to you under the Rathaus - I went there twice for my Schweinehux'n & blaukohl! It was great for a true Munich experience & I also loved the choc mousse & Advocaat liqueur dessert and the Domina 2007 red wine as a nice change from the Augustiner/Paulaner/ Lowenbrau ha ha ha)

The building is in a commercial street and the entrance is nothing special. There is a lift to take you to level 1. Once you are on level one, there is a long corridor along which guest rooms are located (I was in Room 7 and I think there are 8 or 9 rooms). Just lovely! Neat as a pin, persian rugs, cosy furnishings and perfectly adequate and comfortable. I felt like I was staying at a friends place. My room faced an internal courtyard. I slept very well! Had TV, mirror and wash basin in my room w. nice fluffy towels.

Breakfast was in a nice little room with lovely matching crockery and set up like High Tea. So cute! Fresh rolls, cheese, ham, the best salami I had in ages, cereal, boiled eggs, juice, fruit, jam. Coffee was always in a thermos pot on each table ready to go!!

I was worried about what I would get for my money during Oktoberfest - especially when I stayed at another Munich 2 star hotel in early Sept for EUR54 and the rate jumped to 250 during this time, so I thought, my goodness, what will I get for EUR70, but it was actually better than the other place in SchillerStr!!

I did not have to wait to use the bathroom - but then again I was up at 6.30am each day. Very clean and neat.

You can feel confident of a safe, clean place to stay - and this comes from a single lady traveller with champagne taste and lemonade money!!

The pension is located 5 minutes away from Munich's Hauptbahnhof, which is very convenient to get to the airport and tourist sights from. It is on a busy street, so get an inward facing room if you're worried about noise. It is tiny, about 6 rooms. My room had a TV, sink, couch, and a large bed. However, there weren't sheets per say, just a duvet and pillow. The breakfast in the morning was great. The owners have limited English, so some German is helpful. They also prefer payment in cash. A great value for the location.
