“Low price and good quality”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 September 2010

We've been looking for a reasonable-priced hotel which can be a base for the Munich-sightseeing and we found it. Yes, the district isn't very romantic, but the S-Bahn station Laim with the easy acess to the centre and to the airport is nearby. Personell is very friendly, room was big, clean and quiet - in fact, it was a perfect place to stay after all-day wandering and sightseeing.

“Dark, dingey and basic. Poor location.”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 December 2009

Located quite a trek from the centre of town (approx a 20 min tram ride away) this was advertised as a budget hotel for business travelers and much as I did not expect luxury, I was disappointed to find that the hotel was quite basic and shabby.
Situated in an industrial area of town within an office block, the hotel is difficult to locate and not very attractive from the outside. Once inside the office building it is difficult to be sure you are in the correct place there is little signage for the hotel. Up a couple of flights of stairs (there is a lift) and across a balcony and you arrive at Hotel Tessin.
The reception is pretty much a cupboard under the stairs when we were there, the gentleman on reception, whist friendly, did not speak English too well. The was a fridge with cold drinks in the lobby area however, although prices were listed, there was nowhere to leave money when the reception was closed during the evening/night.
The room although large, was quite dark and dingy. There was a tv and plenty of room to hang clothes along with a double and a single bed. A large window opened inwards over the bed which meant you had to be careful not to crack your head on it.
The en-suite bathroom was not very clean, although the shower worked well.
The best thing about the hotel was the breakfast. In the morning, a small side room opened up which was bright and airy and in total contrast to the rest of the hotel. A plentiful and tasty selection of cold snacks was laid out. Typical continental fare: sliced meats, cheeses, selection of breads, cereals, fruit etc
With the exception of the breakfast experience, on the whole I found the hotel drab, dreary and a little depressing. It had the feel of a decaying office block. Although it does advertise itself as a cheap, no frills establishment, for the standard provided I consider it still too pricey. The website suggests the hotel is a cheap and cheerful option for transient or business travelers but it wasn’t particularly cheap and certainly not cheerful.
Maybe it looks better in the summer months.

“More a backpackers lodge”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 November 2009

Very basic, cot beds, no tea or coffee facilities, get to breakfast very early as there is not much on offer. Close to train station. Would not recommend it.

“Tiny rooms, location OK”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 September 2009

Tiny douple room and a narrow bed, the one sleeping next to the wall had to climb over the other one. Bathroom damp. Breakfast good. Price during the Octoberfest (about 170 e/night) high compared to the quality of the hotel and size of the room. The location was good, direct S-Bahn (S1 or S8) to the airport.

“Worth it!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 July 2009

We all were waiting for the worst, because of the cheap prize for the night, 49 euros per room. But our two rooms were very clean and decoration was actually quite nice, modern. Double-bed room was pretty small but the room with two separated beds was big and comfortable. And the breakfeast is including the prize! There was Rewe nearby hotel where we picked up food. The metro was like 100 metres from the hotel and it went straight to the hauptbahnhof and from there to any places. And metros don't move only from 2:00am to 4:00 am! So you can easily go where ever you want. Staff spoke English also. Very good for young people who wants to party! and we think it would be good for the familys with children also.
