“Convenient location, good price, caring people”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 September 2011

I stayed in this hotel for 3 weeks and nevertheless I liked it :-) Room was 50EUR per night with breakfast and should say it's best price for conveniently located the room with bathroom and shower. Breakfast is nothing special, but I never felt hungry until lunch time. Also the guy who was on duty in the morning makes the atmosphere of a really cosy place, talking with people, remembering what you like for breakfast etc.
It is also important - all 3 receptionists speak very good English.
Location is very convenient, as hotel is located in 3 minutes walk from S-bahn station Laim. If you want to stay in a nice area in Munich and not see drunken homeless people near main train station - this hotel is for you.
If you need to do washing - walk 15 minutes to Agnes-Bernauer strasse 36 to coin laundry.
For good food you will find everything you need on two street crossings nearby the hotel.

Sometimes you can hear noise from the street, as people in Germany like to discuss everything very loudly. My room was on the 2nd floor and sometimes I felt like I need to participate in the discussion :-)

Anyway, I recommend this hotel for business stay and for budget tourists.

Room Tip: Ask for rooms on the 3rd floor!

“Excelent business hotel in western Munich”

Hotel Tessin is affordable (for Munich standards) and does not pretend to be a luxurious hotel. It is well located in the westerns part of the city, but only a few minutes (~15 min) away from the city centre (Hauptbanhoff and Marienplatz). It is confortable, very clean, and does the job of accomodating those who travel in business or tourism. I would not recommend it as a family hotel, but I do not know all rooms. Although the outside is grey, the interior decoration is very nice. Breakfast buffet was nice.

“Low price and good quality”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 September 2010

We've been looking for a reasonable-priced hotel which can be a base for the Munich-sightseeing and we found it. Yes, the district isn't very romantic, but the S-Bahn station Laim with the easy acess to the centre and to the airport is nearby. Personell is very friendly, room was big, clean and quiet - in fact, it was a perfect place to stay after all-day wandering and sightseeing.

“Dark, dingey and basic. Poor location.”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 December 2009

Located quite a trek from the centre of town (approx a 20 min tram ride away) this was advertised as a budget hotel for business travelers and much as I did not expect luxury, I was disappointed to find that the hotel was quite basic and shabby.
Situated in an industrial area of town within an office block, the hotel is difficult to locate and not very attractive from the outside. Once inside the office building it is difficult to be sure you are in the correct place there is little signage for the hotel. Up a couple of flights of stairs (there is a lift) and across a balcony and you arrive at Hotel Tessin.
The reception is pretty much a cupboard under the stairs when we were there, the gentleman on reception, whist friendly, did not speak English too well. The was a fridge with cold drinks in the lobby area however, although prices were listed, there was nowhere to leave money when the reception was closed during the evening/night.
The room although large, was quite dark and dingy. There was a tv and plenty of room to hang clothes along with a double and a single bed. A large window opened inwards over the bed which meant you had to be careful not to crack your head on it.
The en-suite bathroom was not very clean, although the shower worked well.
The best thing about the hotel was the breakfast. In the morning, a small side room opened up which was bright and airy and in total contrast to the rest of the hotel. A plentiful and tasty selection of cold snacks was laid out. Typical continental fare: sliced meats, cheeses, selection of breads, cereals, fruit etc
With the exception of the breakfast experience, on the whole I found the hotel drab, dreary and a little depressing. It had the feel of a decaying office block. Although it does advertise itself as a cheap, no frills establishment, for the standard provided I consider it still too pricey. The website suggests the hotel is a cheap and cheerful option for transient or business travelers but it wasn’t particularly cheap and certainly not cheerful.
Maybe it looks better in the summer months.

“More a backpackers lodge”

Very basic, cot beds, no tea or coffee facilities, get to breakfast very early as there is not much on offer. Close to train station. Would not recommend it.
