“Not excellent, but doesn't need to be.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 January 2012

I stayed one night at this hotel on business.

The hotel is well located for Messe if you're going to a show there. It has excellent links to the Ubahn and bus network, and under an hour from the airport via Sbahn and bus.

The bed was comfy, shower warm, room quiet, breakfast gigantic and receptionist very hot. Couldn't be happier with the hotel, would use it again.

“Excellent stop-over for wintersport”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 January 2012

Usually we drive to our wintersport hotel in Austria in one day. Because we didn't want to arrive late on new year's eve, we decided to have a stop over in Munich to assure an easy early arrival.

After some research on Tripadvisor we found the Novotel Munchen messe. It is only a few minutes away from the "99" to Austria and easy to find. You can park your car in an underground car park (it 's the same car park for the mall to which to Novotel is connected) for EUR 17 a night. In case of snow it is really convenient to have covered parking.

Check-in went very smooth. We had booked a superior room which was huge, modern and comfortable for a very reasonable price (EUR 109). Only thing that we had expected was a bath but we didn't really miss it.

For dinner and breakfast we didn't use the hotel facilities but went to the Mall next to the hotel. There is a great pizzeria and a good breakfast place that is a good alternative for the EUR 19 breakfast option of the Novotel. The mall was good for some last minute shopping as well.

To sum it up: the Novotel was great a stop over hotel and we will definitely use it again in the future!

“Nice weekend stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 December 2011

Stayed here on a weekend break to visit the Christmas markets etc. Hotel was comfortable and quite typical business type. Room was pleasant but not on the large size, it did not have a bath, only a shower, this didn't worry me but my other half would have preferred a bath.
We arrived late on a Friday, after 11pm, and where unable to get anything to eat, either at the hotel or the surrounding area, so beware of that if you have a check in after 11pm. Thanks to the girls behind the bar for sorting us out with nuts and crisps though.
The hotel location is a little out of town but very close to the the U-Bahn. I read a review on here about, not being able to find the hotel entrance, which I found a bit baffling. It’s so close to the train station you almost fall into the Hotel when leaving the station. The ride by train into city centre is about 20min and good value on an all day partner card.
Good hotel and would stay here again if returning to Munich.

“Our third stay, we would return anytime”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 November 2011

This is our third time at this hotel, and I would easily recommend to anyone, either business or pleasure, with car or without. We stayed 6 nights in October 2011 (after Octoberfest)

1) The rooms are standard Novotel, clean, reasonable size, and all the amenities. As well, all the rooms are quiet, even those facing the neighboring mall.

2) Price - A few other reviews suggest prices that don't seem reasonable. Maybe if it was Octoberfest, and a last minute booking, but a quick review outside of that event time will find prices anywhere between 100USD/CAD (75EUR) and 200USD/CAD (150EUR). A bit of planning can get you to the lower end of that fairly easily. Compared to other European cities, this is really good value.

3) Location - no, its not near the airport. Neither is anything else, except farmers. For those who have not been to Munich, Franz Joseph (MUC) is in a different timezone. (kidding). The airport is WAY out there. Great, in that you rarely hear flights across the city, but no matter what hotel you book (save the airport Novotel), you are going to fork out some money for a taxi. I was renting a car (you can find free parking in the area), and others have commented on S/Ubahn methods of getting there. By car, its right beside an major motorway (94) and is very easy to find.

As others have said, its right on top of a train station, so its fairly easy to use public transportation to get downtown. By car, no matter what time we travelled, it was about 10 - 15 minutes from central Munich to the hotel.

4) Area - as others have said, there is a mall beside the hotel, with a couple of good restaurants, plus Edeka (a food store). Very easy to purchase a good sandwich, a beer, and some other tidbits for lunch at the mall, or to take with you downtown.

Our only real complaint was that the wireless in the rooms was poor.

Overall, excellent value, typically good Novotel quality and cleanliness. For anyone on a driving tour around Germany/Europe, this is a good hotel to consider.

“Average hotel, not such a good location”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 November 2011

Typical Novotel room layout and facilities - comfortable and practical. Bed was comfortable and good sleep.
Bar/restaurant offers good food from a standard business hotel menu. Breakfast was good, although the buffet area is a bit small so tends to get very crowded at peak breakfast time.
Location is great if you're attending an event at the conference centre, but it's not very convenient for the town or airport. The quickest way to/from the airport is a 45 min taxi ride - 80 euros. By S-bahn it's really awkward and takes nearly an hour. Into the city is about 20-30 mins on the S-bahn. The stop is right outside the hotel.
There's a good shopping centre next door and the Italian restaurant there is very good.
The staff were very helpful and friendly.
