I stayed here with my boyfriend for 4 nights. When we checked in, we each got a key (electronic keys require a deposit, returned at checkout) for our 6 bed room. Right when we walked it, it smelled so bad, like Axe or other men's product like that. We could tell that the guys (DB workers) staying there had been there awhile since there were plates, silverware, and a coffeepot. We made our beds and my boyfriend went to the bathroom before we left. When he got out he said it smelled of smoke in there, so I checked it out too. The cigarette smoke was awful and that is what the Axe was covering up so badly in the main room. Smoking is prohibited indoors and there are even signs stating that. I can't stay in a room like that so we immediately went down to the reception and told her that the room smelled of smoke and we needed to change. She was really surprised about that and immediately moved us to a 4 bed room at no charge. So we moved our stuff to this WAY better room. The only problem (which really wasn't a problem to us) was that we had to check out of the 4 bed room, store our luggage until later, then move into a different 6 bed room. The reception was very accommodating to us.
The next 6 bed room was alot better than the previous smokey one. There was 3 sets of bunk beds and a private bathroom for just our room. This means that only those 6 people use this bathroom. There was also a wardrobe with some hangers, shelves and lockers (must provide your own lock). There was a table and chairs in the room as well. the carpet could use a thorough cleaning, but it was as if it was dirier than the street. The bathroom was ok. I'm not sure how often the floors are scrubbed, but your feet get a little dirty before you shower. There were double sinks.
There is an elevator and also stairs. The only security is your own door lock. The street isn't too noisy, you may be able to leave it open at night. The bartender was great. The breakfast isn't worth the money. Alot of the food was gone when we got there between 9 and 10 and was resupplied only minimally. The Hauptbahnhof has better and cheaper food available. Although the room downstairs for breakfast has 3 tvs and plenty of space to sit.
There were student (German high school age) groups staying there at the same time and were really, really rowdy. I guess their teachers didn't care if they ran around, screaming down the hallways, and knocking on all the doors.
It has on-site laundry facilities for a reasonable price. The three washers and three dryers are old, but functioning. Launddry tablets are available for purchase. There are very good directions for their use and the reception will give change since exact change is needed.
Computers are available in the lobby for internet, but I'm not sure how much they cost. Wi-fi is available for 3 days or 7 days and is reasonably priced.
