I stayed at the Hotel St. Paul with my two adult children in December 2011 and we were very pleased with our stay. Since we had a car, we were delighted to find that free parking directly in front of the hotel was included. The U-bahn stop is a few feet from the Hotel and we were able to travel around Munich easily and quickly using public transit. Although we were visiting primarily to see the Christmas markets, we walked over to the Oktoberfest grounds, so I assume the St. Paul would be a perfect location for those visiting Oktoberfest. The hotel is not fancy, but very comfortable with private bath, the staff helpful, and the breakfast one of the best we had in Germany (we especially appreciated that eggs were prepared to order and preference.) Overall, i would highly recommend the St. Paul, especially for those traveling on a budget.

Although this is certainly not a fancy hotel and we only stayed there one night, we were really pleased with our choice. Staff was warm and welcoming and went out of their way to make us feel at home and assist us with issues. Room was basic but clean and was a great bargain at around 80 euros. The breakfast/coffee area was very quaint and service was welcoming and attentive. It is an older hotel with a REALLY small elevator but we were very pleased overall and the staff really made the stay a pleasure!

My husband and I were only in Munich for two days during Oktoberfest. This location is the best. Stumbling blocks from the Weisen to the hotel. The staff are friendly and helpful. The room was a great size, comfortable beds, private bath. The breakfast was wonderful. Eggs anyway you like it, cold cuts, cheeses, croissants and preserves. Fruit, yogurt and cereal. All included in our room cost. The rate was high but very reasonable for Oktoberfest so I would gladly pay it again. I believe it was value for money. It was close to the train station. Not a huge walk to the center of the city, plus outside its doors was the U-bahn station. I very much recommend this hotel.

My husband and two brothers-in-law stayed here for four nights during Oktoberfest last year (just getting around to writing review now!) This hotel was recommended to us by a friend who had stayed there during Oktoberfest the previous year, and it was an excellent choice. The location was perfect--walking distance to the Oktoberfest grounds in Munich (about 10 min), the train station (15 min), and there is a U-Bahn station right outside the door of the hotel. The rooms were clean and perfectly adequate (you're not hanging out in your room much anyway, right?) and complementary breakfast was excellent. We found the staff to be very helpful and I was able to coordinate reservations via email with no problem.
If you plan on staying here for Oktoberfest, you probably need to book about six months in advance to actually reserve a room...the prices are reasonable (all things considered) if you book early! I imagine the word is out on this place so I don't know if it will continue to be a good deal for future Oktoberfests...but if you can get a room here, it's well worth it!
