Arrived at the Rilano & first impressions were pretty good - got all excited when I was told there was a complimentary mini-bar! Check-in was quick and efficient, staff were helpful and polite. Suitably impressed with the service I had received and the modern highly polished surroundings, on arriving at my room it was fairly spacious & well furnished. All excited about the complimentary mini bar I opened the fridge expecting to see a range of beverages...and there staring at me with a little cardboard 'compliments of Rilano' label were two mini bottles of sparkling water...and two mini bottles of Pepsi - and that's it! - totally underwhelmed I proceeded to settle in. After a short while I figured it would be a good idea to venture out and see what facilities there were in and around the hotel as I was staying for a few days....it didn't take long to realise that in city terms I was pretty much in the middle of nowhere - no shops, no bars, no restaurants....nothing - but hey I thought, Munich has a realy good U-bahn, but somehow the builders of this particular hotel had probably found a plot as far away from a U-bahn station as possible - at least 15-20 mins walk (with not so much as a shop or anything on the way)...hmm I had started to realise I was pretty much stuck where I was, paying a shed load of money (~€160 per night in November) for what on the face of it is a pretty nice hotel, but under the nice frontage and 'polished' slate floors, modern lighting etc.
is albeit pretty standard there is absolutely nothing - nothing at all to do & nowhere within reasonable walking distance to go. Parking is a bit steep @ €12 Euros a day, bar prices are more than average, the restaurant menu is limited and pricey - but the inclusive breakfast is good and well presented. Overall I rate this hotel 3* - predominently for the service and room quality but way way way over priced & the location totally sucks.
