My wife and I spent three nights in Laimer Hof Hotel, Munich, and I have to say that it sort of changed my idea of searching for accomodation in the future. As a young traveller I used to get mesmerized by looks and surroundings. Now as I got more experienced I first search for the quality of services provided.
This is where the staff from Laimer Hof Hotel totally met my expectations. Long story short, choosing them guaranteed us a very comfortable stay. Everybody was keen to help us getting around Munich and to make sure that we're ok while inhouse. Friendliest people ever. Maybe a bit too friendly for someone on a holiday, looking for relaxation. For example on the first night we were eager to get out and breathe some fresh air and the host, Sebastian, kept on talking about sights and surroundings for 15 minutes. Despite I was telling him that we only want to stroll a lot and have a relaxing stay... We're not into churches and beer gardens.
There where some other inconveniences too during our stay. The room was incredibly small and looked old. Of course, I wasn't expecting luxury classic furniture. Yet I never thought I would ever hang my shirts on a awkward looking closet, with a roof top that lets you think a mouse should pop out any minute and say "Gutten Tag".
Also, don't expect for a Pantagruelic breakfast. Some poor selection of cheese, salami, eggs, butter, packed croissants (not fresh ones), jams, milk and cereals. Good coffee, though.
Getting to and around the place is very easy, and it's a definite plus. 1 hour from the airport, with S1 and S8 + 2 bus stations. 20 mins for reaching city center. 5 minutes walk + 15 mins with 16/17 tram.
Overall, I feel very sorry that I couldn't write a more positive review. The place is a bit overrated (but then again, maybe for some other people the things I listed aren't that important), yet the staff's behavior totally pays off the money.
Employees all over the world could really learn something about what trying to please the costumer means. As a tourist I prefer being bugged by somebody who wants to be helpful rather than being ignored.
Room Tip: Just ask for a larger room if possible.
