“Super Showers, Great Breakfasts, Miserable Pillows”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 November 2010

Overall a pleasant experience. Hotel was sparsely furnished but adequate. Location convenient to Schwabing and about 1 1/2 blocks from the Ubahn stop. Rooms moderate size. Relatively quiet even though we had a street facing room. Breakfast was very fine - with the usual continental selection of breads, meats, and condiments - plus good scrambled eggs, bacon, and local sausage. Best shower we have experienced in Europe; strong flow, large shower head, and plenty of room. Service very friendly and rooms cleaned nicely. Biggest problem was the terrible pillows - lumpy and very uncomfortable. Asked for traditional feather pillows, but they did not have them. Internet via ethernet cable and pretty slow. Note that renovation works continue through December 2010 but only from 9am-4pm and these did not bother us. Avoid rooms 10-14 as they are right outside the breakfast area.

“small rooms, no air conditioning, dodgy maid service...but nice area”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 August 2010

Rooms are small and on the trendy side, but functional. Mattress was a foam block, which didn't encourage sleeping.

Breakfast is typical German but as a whole rather thin on options.

Warning: Fahlmeyerstrasse can be a bit noisy until 11pm, so if you've got the windows open in the summer (mandatory with no a/c) you're going to hear cars and motos right clear. Otherwise the neighborhood is quite nice - Schwabing - and excellent (expensive) restaurants abound.

There's other hotels in the area for just a bit more money, which I will try next time.

“Great - aside from the small rooms”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 July 2010

Let's get the down side out of the way right off the top - the room was small and bare (or puristic to put a positive spin on it). I was expected a larger room, but as my time in Munich is normally spent outside the hotel, this is, for me, no deal breaker.

The location is very good - near, but off HohenzollernStr so you can easily get to everything on foot, but the street noise is minimal. The staff was very polite and although we knew our way around, they were helpful with offering suggestions and recomendations. The WiFi is a convenient touch, and they have secure parking available for a price.

I thought the overall aesthetic of the place was good as well. And we had only jealous friends as they picked us up from the hotel, commenting that they we paying more for a less attractive hotel. We may have gotten a deal on the room and that's why it was so well priced, not sure if I would have been as pleased if the place cost 70% more than what we paid.

“On average”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 July 2010

The room is rather small, but the bathroom is really small and without any emotions. Plain vanilla, but not at its best. Thats Munich: said to be a design hotel, but it is in real a refurbished old hotel. No design at all. However for 80 Euros it is cheap in Munich, without Breakfast. But there is a SFCC close by, take a croissant and a coffee. That is cheaper and better. Summary: so-so.

“Pleasant enough - check price / quality”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 June 2010

Modern hotel - the rooms are OK bit a bit bare / empty in my opinion - the bathrooms are a bit small . Did not create a cosy atmosphere.
The location is in central Schwabing - close to some pubs and restaurants - and even in walking distance to the Englischer Garten if it is Beergarten weather
Breakfast is good - internet access is free and works well. I had a room facing the quiet street - but you will probably wake up if you sleep with an open window
Maybe it was because we were there during a trade show - but the relationship of 140Euro / per night for a single person I did not find a good deal
