This was the worst campsite that we stayed at on our European trip.
The chemical toilet was horrible and we did not like the facilities so we opted not to use them and use the showers at our next campsite. We were only there for one night. There was plenty of space so if you need somewhere without booking in advance it is a safe bet.
The lady in the supermarket shop was really nice and helpful. The campsite is conveniently located. It only took 20 minutes to get into to Munich Marienplatz. The bus is only 5 mins drive to the metro station. It cost 9 euro 80 which you can purchase from reception and can be used for up to 5 people. You have to pay for showers. The guy at reception was grumpy so first impression was very poor.
All the suggestions for the campsites that we stayed at were based on reviews from trip advisor. This was the only one where we were not happy with our experience. That is 7 out of 7 adults did not like this campsite. We would not go back.

We tend to spend a couple of nights here on summer road trips heading east. It is a big campsite and there's always been space for our tent. I agree with other reviewers that the showers can get crowded & are a bit dirty by the morning but they are catering for a large clientele.
The surroundings are lovely - and the mood always jolly. Loud musical accompaniment to your afternoon will be provided by bands playing on the beery rafts that finish their journey down river close to the site. The U bahn is a very pleasant walk (or bus ride) away and there are good pubs / beer gardens en route. There is a little snack bar offering unhealthy treats & a mini market on site (there is a supermarket next to the U bahn station).
It is a campsite - so it can be noisy - little kids in the morning & big kids at night. Kontiki (and possibly other boozy bus tours for 18 - 30s) use the site but they seem to have a specific area to put up their tents slightly away from the main pitches so don't be put off by this.

My wife and I took a trip to Europe and one of our first stops in Europe was Oktoberfest. We rented a campervan, so booked this campsite thinking it would be nice and convenient location to Oktoberfest. What we had not fully thought out is hundreds of other campers (mostly college kids) had the same idea. We arrived late at night, and the place was already hopping from all the kids coming back from Oktoberfest (it closes at 11pm). We had just arrived that day in Frankfort from the State and drove 6 hours to Munich, so looking forward to rest so we could get an early start next morning. Umm, not happening. Campers were partying late into the night. Quieted down about 2:00am, then around 5:00am we woke up to Ace of Base blaring. We thought what are these kids doing up this early? We later would learn the reason was in order to get seats in the beer halls at Oktoberfest you have to get their first thing in the morning. I am sure this site might be nicer in offseason, but something to keep in mind if you decide to camp during Oktoberfest. Facilities were average, showers had wait since it was packed. There is a nice german restaurant down from campsite along the stream, Gasthof HInterbruhl.

Big site alongside a river in suburbs of Munich. Well run and able to deal with a lot of campers. Shop, basic bar/cafe, big washrooms. Metro station is 15 minute walk from the site. Plenty of walking, cycle rides nearby. Citycentre is within 30 minutes of the site using the Metro.

Site can get very busy. Washrooms can get dirty when it is busy. No soap dispensers provided in washrooms (a pet hate of mine)
