“great location”

The hotel is a short 3 minute walk, past some shops, from the train station. I arrived at 10:30 and was allowed to check in early. They could not find my reservation, but quickly found me a room. The receptionist was very friendly and provided me with the instructions for breakfast and the area. They later on offered my a different room with a view of the courtyard, but I was happy overlooking the street. It is a quiet street and the no noise problems to sleep at night. The single room was quite large, very comfortable and very clean. My room had snow white and the seven dwarfs painted on the wall. The street was under construction, but this was not a problem. The breakfast was fantastic and offered 06:30 to 10:15. There were at least 6 varieties of everything:cheeses, meats, breads, danishes, fresh fruit, canned fruit, juices and teas. The lady working in the breakfast room was kind and worked very hard. The plates were all well stocked and coffee was quickly served. There is WIFI at the hotel for 1 euro/1hour or 5 euro/24 hours, but this was not working when i was staying there. The car parking lot is right across the street, if you need it. There is also a 24 hour bar service offered.

I travelled alone and felt very safe walking around the streets. It is a short, 5 minute walk to the pedestrian area where most of the shops and major sites are. I found a great internet cafe "Coffee Fellows Internet" at Schutzenstrasse 14. If you order food, the internet is free. The food is good and very reasonably priced. A very nice helpful guy was working on Nov 28. The Christmas market was wonderful. Many varieties of crafts, food, and gluewein. It is a must to visit these Christmas markets.

“Only reason to stay is conveniece to train station”

Hotel is very tired, could be cleaner, and things included such as in room safe and fridge didn't work. Never could get wifi connections...a problem for other guests as well who also got "not allowed to connect" message. Light over the bed didn't work, and hair dryer handle had to be squeezed to work. Cost of room varied depending on who responded to the inquiry. Kitchen staff was pleasant.

“Great location, very "tired" hotel”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 November 2011

The Condor is very well located in central Munich next to the main trainstation. I was in a group on business and the first thing that we noticed was when we were booking the rooms was that the prices were very different betwean bookings and for some reason we weren't able to pay my room upfront like all the other rooms. But that is a very minor thing and just fine...
But what I didn't like was that after I checked in I first noticed a big stain in my bed linens and there were no towels. I whent down to the lobby and they fixed it quickly. Later I noticed glass stains on a couple of places and those stains were there the whole week - so room cleanliness was not so good :-)
The hotel bar was never open and because someone else at the hotel had been noicy the night before we weren't even allowed to have a drink in the lobby.
Nice staff and all that, but the hotel needs a facelift. I wouldn't stay there again or recomend it unless someone is on a very tight budget in need of a hotel in a great location.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the lower levels. You're not going to want to use the very tight and super slo...

This hotel was very convenient to the subways for getting around Munich. I wondered in with my backpack and the rate was right. To be honest, however, as I am typing up my notes seven days after my stay, I cannot recall this hotel at all.

“Very affordable for Munich, good location, watch out for the credit card conversion”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 September 2011

We stayed here for 4 nights in mid-August and found it quite affordable, particularly considering it would have been in the busy season.

We booked one of the budget rooms, so it was very small and did not have any air conditioning. It was a little too warm in the room, but bearable if you opened the windows.

Our room faced onto Zweigstraße, which led to a some noise from people going to bars, etc. on the Friday night. This area seems to be a red light district, with lots of strip clubs and casinos around the hotel. This didn't bother us, but might be an issue for other people.

We did find that at reception, where we had to pay the total upfront, that their new system automatically charged my card in Australian dollars (the card is Australian). The receptionist didn't seem familiar with the system, and so didn't ask my permission before doing this (an option appears on the screen to cancel this and pay in Euros). Unfortunately, this means that the hotel's bank gives you an exchange rate which is not very good. Given that I pay $10 per month to have a card with doesn't have any currency conversion fees this is very annoying! We told the receptionist about this, but she didn't seem to understand the system. So, if you have a card from a country that doesn't use Euros - try mentioning before they swipe the card that you want to pay in Euros, not your local currency.

Internet was fairly affordable, only €1/hour, I think. Another option is to go to Coffee Fellows at the hauptbahnhof to have your breakfast and use their free wifi.

Given that we had friends paying almost as much for a hostel, with found this hotel to be very good value (for Munich) during the busy season. The location is only two blocks from the hauptbahnhof, so very convenient.

Room Tip: Perhaps try and get a room which doesn't face onto Zweigstraße.
