“Love the Panorama Room”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 February 2012

person found this review helpful

The Hotel Anna is a fun and comfortable hotel, conveniently located between Hauptbahnof and Karlsplatz. We booked the Panorama room, which was worth the slightly higher rate of a standard room. The top floor feels very private with only a few rooms and separate hallways. The entrance into the Panorama room is a hallway with the minibar and bathroom on one side, and then finally the bedroom area at the end. The king bed is supremely comfortable, the sitting area, desk, and TV modern and comfortable. The room is exceptionally clean.

The bathroom is very large - one of the larger bathrooms I've seen in a European hotel. You can set the lights to different colors, and there's a TV in the room as well. One downside is that there is no bathtub - only a moderately spacious square shower with a bench.

The best part of the panorama room is the view from the floor to ceiling windows and wrap-around private terrace. From one side you can look over to Karlsplatz, and from the other there is Hauptbahnhof. It's awesome to be able to look down on the city from a luxurious nesting point. Note - the wall-length windows do go into the bathroom, and the terrace wraps around to one or two other hotel rooms.

Aside from the panorama room, the rest of the hotel is equally spotless, efficient, and the staff is friendly. The lobby is small, no frills, and the two elevators are also tight and not quite representative of the sleek rooms and overall gestalt. The staff was very friendly, referred to us by name, and offered us each a complimentary drink at the bar, which we were able to take up to our room. The bar is hoppin' at night with lots of tourists (and perhaps locals alike) in their 20s-40s. The drinks are good, reasonably priced.

Parking is a bit tough. We were able to park near the hotel, but this was very lucky. Best bet is on Bayerstraße (metered parking). Finding/entering the hotel is a bit confusing at first (the entrance is just on one side not facing Bayerstraße), but you'll get it.

The Panorama room on its own is 5 stars, but the rest of the hotel is more trendy/simple boutique than full-on luxury. It's an energetic place to stay, and if you get the right room, it'll make the trip.

Room Tip: Spring for the nicer room. The hotel is modern and simple, so the other rooms may not be as impress...

“Good hotel in a convenient location.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 February 2012

Very central. Next to the main subway. Walking distance to many pubs and restaurants .
Good staff. Tasty food in a great bar.
Bathroom really nice and big.
Beds comfortable.
Room was extremely warm. Had to open the window all night which leaves in the noise of the city.
Overall, I would recommend this hotel for those interested in a modern, contemporary hotel in a great location.

“Perfect for business.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 February 2012 via mobile

I chose the Anna for its proximity to a meeting venue in Munich's Altstadt. Additionally, the website photos showed that the hotel had a lot more design flair than the usual basic alternatives that business travelling on a budget usually entails.
I followed the recommendations by other reviewers to book on the 4th floor or higher. As the smoking floor is the fourth, this suited me perfectly. Although I had reserved a single room I was upgraded to a double. The room was fairly basic in amenities, but was well designed and decorated, and light. The bathroom was an excellent size, and even though I prefer a bath, the shower was spacious. My major gripe is over the size of the bath towels - far too small for the average human (this is a very German hotel problem). However there were 2 bath towels provided.
The added bonus to staying in the Anna is the lobby level bar and restaurant area. It appears to be a really popular venue for both locals and visitors alike. This is where you have breakfast (nice buffet, and eggs to order). At night the place is buzzing. There's a great atmosphere, a good menu (the sushi is supposed to be great, but I didn't get the chance to try it), and the perfect alternative to staying in your room killing time until you fall asleep - aka the joys of business travel.
Nice people on the reception - very friendly.
I'd stay at the Anna again if visiting Munich on business. I don't think I would choose a single room, as I would probably find it too cramped having tried the double.

“Great Hotel very close to downtown Munich”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 January 2012

Liked the clean, fresh, modern, friendly athmosphere. Location not quite downtown but within 5-10 min walking distance. Was nice because not crowded like other downtown places. Really nice Sunday brunch for 19 Euros. Service pretty slow though. Overall - will come back.

“Very good but can be better!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 January 2012

Anna Hotel is very well located in the heart of Munich city. Almost everything is great, except one thing that I find is missing... free in-room coffee & tea making facility. May be it is Germany, in general, that hotels do not provide such facility.

This hotel is highly recommended for anyone travelling to Munich! But remember to bring your own kettle and coffee/tea...
