“Perfect Location, Great Breakfast, Friendly Staff”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 August 2011

My Partner and I stayed here for 3 nights. The location is only 5-8minutes walk from the Main Marienplatz.
The hotel was clean, the beds were super comfy.. We did have a giggle that we had two oversized single beds together but it was that comfortable we didn't notice.... (May want ear plugs if a light sleeper, the tram comes past the hotel) The Breakfast was AMAZING.. such a great little buffet breakfast with friendly Kitchen staff (The lady from Hungry was very accomodating)..... Would definately look at staying here again on our next visit.

“exactly what we were looking for”

We wanted a clean, quiet place near the center of town that didn't cost a fortune. Hotel Isartor was just what we wanted.

The only downside is that the building looks dated... was it perhaps built as a school in the 1950s? But that is really the only downside. It's a ten minute walk to the heart of Munich. We walked to the opera--about 15 minutes, strolling. Restaurants are around the corner. The train to/from the airport is a block away. The $140/night rate included breakfast.

For the price, I can't imagine a better place to stay. Very clean and pleasant. Great location.

“Safe enough choice, but don't make this your first choice”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 April 2010

I didn't know there was a huge conference in Munich the week i went, so that was part of the reason that the prices were jacked up. Otherwise, this is a safe choice, but look elsewhere first. The service was ok, One receptionist was quite coarse, but overall i had a good experience. Can't believe the internet was not free. I had a room overlooking a street and it was really loud. Very small bathroom and shower. Rooms were a little old, but they worked. For the price, look elsewhere first. The breakfast was ok, but nothing to write home about.

“Good location, bad hotel”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 May 2008

The hotel is located in a quiet area in walking distance from the city center.
The hotel is clean, and the staff is very friendly.
I stayed in a single room with twin beds. Big bed room, but very small bath room, with just enough space for one person - have to move the small stool outside the bath room to get in the shower. The furniture and equipment is old and cheap, like you would expect in a hostel.
The breakfast selection is disappointing. Only one kind or no fresh fruit at all. Coffee is cold, milk is warm. Crusty rolls are soft. There are so many delicious things to get from the markets in the area, so why don't they get them at this hotel?

“Good choice”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 October 2007

This hotel is near the Isartorplatz to the east of the old center of the city. The U-bahn/S-bahn underground station is a 5-10 minute walk. A tram stop is within 5 minutes. It is about a 20-30 minute walk to the Marienplatz. The hotel is located on a medium density residential street. It is relatively quiet for a city center street.

The hotel is of modern design and about six or seven stories tall. Many rooms have private balconies as did ours. The rooms are simple but pleasant and had all necessary features. The baths were efficient and modern. The rooms were clean and comfortable. A wall of windows faces the balcony. There is no evident air conditioning. At the time of our visit it was unseasonably warm, and the hotel provided us with large table fans.

There is a large pleasant breakfast room with the usual fare.

Most of the staff were very pleasant, particularly helpful, and of course spoke fluent English. There was a night clerk who was somewhat grumpy, but we only had to pick up keys from him.

We would definitely stay here again.
