We wanted to stay in the city center, but everything was booked by the time I made my reservations. The Prinzregent looked close enough to the city center and I liked the idea of getting out of the fray, so we decided to book there. It turned out to be a great decision. It is super easy to take the tram into the city center from the Prinzregent. Also, because we were there during the Christmas season, it was nice to get away from the hustle and bustle of all the tourists. The hotel is near the English Garden and it is absolutely beautiful in the winter. I don't know if we would have taken the time to go through the Garden had we not been staying close by it. I loved walking through the garden at night -- seeing kids going down hills on their sleds, the glow of the snow from the city lights -- it was my favorite experience from our entire trip to Germany during Christmas. Anyhoo . . . back to the Prinzregent. The breakfast is spectacular. Great staff, very accommodating -- no problem getting a couple of extra pillows or help with directions.
