I stayed at the Le Meridien Munich for only one night at the end of October 2011 and had a good stay there.
First of all, the hotel is just across the train station which is very convenient since the Lufthansa Airport bus stops right there as well as all the trains. The negative about the location of the hotel is that it isn’t dead center in Munich (Marienplatz). This isn’t really a problem though since the hotel is across the train station which is only 2 stop away from Marienplatz.
Check-in was surprisingly quick. I was told that I was upgraded. I did not think much about it but upon entering the room it seemed I received a pretty good upgrade to their largest listed suite, an Executive Suite (I had booked a Superior Plus room).
Upon entering my room through a hallway, a renovated room which was located in a corner overlooking the train station, there was a toilet to the right. The hallway lead to a living room which had a sofa set, a tv, a mini bar, a bose sound system, and a Nespresso machine. The living room also had a work desk. The living room connected through double doors to the bedroom which was twice as large as the living room. One half of the bedroom contained a “make up” table and mini sofa. The other half contained a King bed and another tv. The entrance to the bathroom was just to the right of the bed. The (marble) bathroom contained both a tub and a shower.
There are some negatives though. I tried to call the front desk regarding a late checkout and was unable to reach the front desk (I did receive a late checkout btw). Also, very minor, upon entering my room for the first time there was a big fly inside my room. In addition, like most big chain hotels there is no free internet provided. The good thing though is that there are a couple of PC’s in the lobby which have free internet access. The hotel and rooms (though I understand not all rooms) are modern but there are some signs that remind you that the hotel is old and has been renovated. For example, the restrooms in the lobby and the elevators. The lobby though and the rest of the hotel is beautiful and modern. The lobby also has a view of the beautiful open courtyard in the middle of the hotel.
Checkout wasn’t as smooth though. Their computer system was very slow and their printer wasn’t working. They did apologize for that (repeatedly).
For the price that the hotel charges for their rooms I would say they are definitely good and will definitely return if I will be going back to Munich again.
