“Good Hotel Just Across the Train Station”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 February 2012

I stayed at the Le Meridien Munich for only one night at the end of October 2011 and had a good stay there.

First of all, the hotel is just across the train station which is very convenient since the Lufthansa Airport bus stops right there as well as all the trains. The negative about the location of the hotel is that it isn’t dead center in Munich (Marienplatz). This isn’t really a problem though since the hotel is across the train station which is only 2 stop away from Marienplatz.

Check-in was surprisingly quick. I was told that I was upgraded. I did not think much about it but upon entering the room it seemed I received a pretty good upgrade to their largest listed suite, an Executive Suite (I had booked a Superior Plus room).

Upon entering my room through a hallway, a renovated room which was located in a corner overlooking the train station, there was a toilet to the right. The hallway lead to a living room which had a sofa set, a tv, a mini bar, a bose sound system, and a Nespresso machine. The living room also had a work desk. The living room connected through double doors to the bedroom which was twice as large as the living room. One half of the bedroom contained a “make up” table and mini sofa. The other half contained a King bed and another tv. The entrance to the bathroom was just to the right of the bed. The (marble) bathroom contained both a tub and a shower.

There are some negatives though. I tried to call the front desk regarding a late checkout and was unable to reach the front desk (I did receive a late checkout btw). Also, very minor, upon entering my room for the first time there was a big fly inside my room. In addition, like most big chain hotels there is no free internet provided. The good thing though is that there are a couple of PC’s in the lobby which have free internet access. The hotel and rooms (though I understand not all rooms) are modern but there are some signs that remind you that the hotel is old and has been renovated. For example, the restrooms in the lobby and the elevators. The lobby though and the rest of the hotel is beautiful and modern. The lobby also has a view of the beautiful open courtyard in the middle of the hotel.

Checkout wasn’t as smooth though. Their computer system was very slow and their printer wasn’t working. They did apologize for that (repeatedly).

For the price that the hotel charges for their rooms I would say they are definitely good and will definitely return if I will be going back to Munich again.

“Hip and good location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 February 2012

We stayed here on vacation and really enjoyed it. The rooms are great, and we really liked the art-themed designs of the keys and literature. I have a gluten intolerance and the restaurant had gluten free bread available. The restaurant had great food. The location is very good as well. We had a view of the train station, so it was fun to watch the bustle there. I told the concierge I was interested in the Modern Art Museum, and they printed me out two free tickets! Everything was flawless at the hotel.

The hotel was ideal for a city weekend break . Very comfortable rooms and reasonble price for what we got .
The hotel had a nice atmosphere to it and the staff very friendly and helpful . The Spa was excellent and a must visit if you need to take a chill moment or ten . All in all well located for central station which is the transport hub for areas of interest and Airport connection.

Room Tip: 523 a corner room

“Weihnachts Stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 January 2012

We stayed in this hotel during our trip to Munich. It was definitely a comfortably sized room with clean bedding and bathroom. The location to the central train station was excellent and it made sightseeing as well as travel to other cities so convenient! Each concierge we interacted with readily made dinner reservations or found tickets to attractions for us. Everyone was very friendly and accommodating!! We would recommend staying here on your next trip to Munich!

“Very Nice room!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 January 2012

We booked this hotel because of its proximity to the central train station. The best thing with this hotel was the room! We had a high floor executive room and loved it!!
We ate at the hotel restaurant. It was OK but nothing more for the price they charged. Service was great.
One thing that was disappointing about this hotel was that the toilets in the lobby was absolutely appalling! I had to use the bathroom but turned in the door when I had seen the condition of the facilities. I let the reception staff know about it and they where very apologetic and promised to fix it wright away.
Other than that this was a great hotel for the price we payed. Woukd stay again!
