First the good parts: great loaction at the outskirts of Munich, close to the Autobahn to Ulm, good breakfast. Now the bad parts: Old or too soft mattresses gave both of us backaches, no lift, small windows, stale air in the room, no air conditioning, cracks in the wall. The restaurant was mediocre (Munich has so many that are better).

The best part about this hotel is the location. It is about 10 minutes out of Munich on a lake. I want to say quiet, but the autobahn is on the other side of the lake. No matter... it is still a very peaceful place and there is a recreation area of a second and third lake right around the corner.

The hotel uses a duck in its' logo for a good reason. There are a bunch of ducks nearby. The hotel restaurant has a patio on the lake. Schools of fishes gather there and feeding the fish is encouraged. The ducks love to get a piece of it too. One evening I had kept a bit of pretzel to feed the fish. The restaurant supervisor came out with a bunch of old bread for me. "Here," he said. "Normally this is my job. You look like you enjoy it!"

Sitting by the lake reading, or walking around the hiking paths was our most restful time on the vacation.

We took time to go up to Dachau one afternoon to see the concentration camp museum. We also grabbed the S-bahn one day from the nearby town to go downtown Munich.

The hotel looks like it has seen better days. Some cracks in the plaster. A few worn places. Still, it is a nice place. Rooms were nice and clean. (Lots of spiders though). Also, no air conditioning but we brought our own fan which helped curb the summer heat.

Staff was very nice and attentive.
