“Very convenient; very good price”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 December 2011

My mom and I stayed at this hotel on two different occasions during our trip to Germany to see Christmas markets in December 2011. Our first night in Munich seemed to be very tight hotel-wise, so we were pleased to even get a room close in the city. We were then pleasantly surprised by what we got for the price (69 Euro). We had a European-style room with the bathroom down the hall. The room was laid out well for two people even thought it was small, and everything was extremely clean, including the shared bathroom (which seemed to get cleaned several times a day from what we could tell). Breakfast was included, and it was really quite good. Lots of fresh choices at several different buffet stations, with table service for the coffee as well. We liked it so much we booked a night there later in the week for our last night in Germany before flying out. That time we had a bathroom in the room for 90 Euro, and it was just as clean and well laid out. The hotel is also very convenient in that it’s right across the street from Munich’s main train station, and it’s only about a 10 minute walk to the main town square.

The only negative thing about the hotel was street noise. Both nights we had a room on the back side of the hotel, and there are 2 youth hostels across the street on that side. We could hear yelling out there from time to time late into the night both nights we were there. If you’re a light sleeper, bring a white noise machine or ear plugs, or request a room on the courtyard side of the hotel, which I assume would be quieter. Other than this one issue, we thought the hotel was very good and would definitely stay here again.

“Alittle extra would have helped”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 November 2011

This is the second time we have stayed at Europaischer Hof in 2 years. We were there on a business trip and stayed initially for convenience and the second time because we really didn't have the time to look for anything else.
In the 2 years since we last stayed absolutely nothing has changed.
Still no tea or coffee facilities in the room (a basic standard I would have expected in all but the cheapest B & B!)
Beds firm but ok.
Pillows completely useless
Book a room facing the street and you get constant road noise all night.
Book a room facing the internal courtyard and you get woken at 3am with the bins being emptied!
Staff are efficient but pleasant and business like.
Car parking at 13.5 Euro per day and make sure you try to get on the courtyard level and not in the basement. I have a standard saloon and almost lost the fron and back end trying to negotiate the ramp down to the basement and thank god no-one was coming back up at the same time !!!
Breakfast is ok, although the bacon and sausages are best left alone and stick with the continental versions.
Good Pizza place next door but beware you are in the seedy area of Munich and I wouldn't recommend it for families or singles (particularly young women) as it can feel slightly threatening at times.
The train station is indeed opposite with a good coffee shop out front (Fellows) but beware it is plagued by drunks and beggars after 5pm and this again can be unnerving.
Probably wont stay there again as for the money we could find something better in a quieter district although if you want just a 10min walk to Karlplatz and MarionPlatz then it ideal.

“Convenient to the train station & efficiently run”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 October 2011

Although this hotel was in our Rick Steves' book, I don't THINK we could have gotten a better rate than that negotiated between the tourist bureau and the hotel. The concierge was efficient, if a bit brusque, and the room was simple and straight forward. There was a shower and toilet down the hall. i thought this would be a problem but at 5:30 a.m. certainly was not ... perhaps because the rooms had sinks, along with the fact that the shower/toilet room is too small to really 'get too comfortable'?
There was free internet on the mezzanine and what was perhaps most appreciated was their full-on breakfast. It was the best of several nice ones during our week stay. WOuldn't you know, this was THE morning where we had to high-tail it to the airport!? Rather than allowing for the rate to be without breakfast, they allowed us to enter the breakfast room at 5:50 a.m. so that we were able to grab a quick cup of coffee and make up sandwiches, for which we were grateful.

Room Tip: We were not asked or offered a double bed and so the room, for a couple, was 'dormatory-esque...

“Good hotel near train station”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 October 2011

Enjoyed staying at this hotel. Location across from the train station is excellent, and it's a moderate walk to the pedestrian street.Interior is professional business hotel. Rooms are a little spartan (no pictures on my walls), but roomy. Breakfast is ample and excellent. The room did get hot and is noisy with street noise, but I would defintely stay there again.
