Kin'g Hotel First Class in Munich was my favorite hotel while travelling around Germany solo. I never felt uncomfortable on the premesis or the surrounding neighborhood.
My room was well appointed, and had a beautiful canopy bed. The bathroom was well stocked with toiletries, plenty of towels and a scale. I've never seen a scale in a hotel bathroom before. The shower was wonderful and a nice size. The view was of the street in front of the hotel, and the business across the street is, seemingly, a topless bar. Even so, there was no noise at night or any other activity usually associated with such an establishment. There were candies and other snacks in the room, as well as a minibar which wasn't (too) overpriced.
The AC was wonderful, but I need a fan. It's not their fault that there was no fan, I generally bring one on my own, but I only brought carry on luggage so I didn't have too much room.
The bed was wonderful. Soft clean sheets and super soft pillows. It was so hard to get up in the mornings!
The hotel was easy to navigate. There are only a few floors, so if the elevator is indispose you can easily take the stairs. You must have a key card to use the stairs or elevator.
The bar was wonderful. I wish I could remember the bartender's name. He was a handsome Asian man and very accommodating. If anyone knows his name, please let me know! The bar was well stocked, and I believe there were drink specials each night. It's not a huge bar, but it doesn't need to be. I had a great time there at night with other hotel patrons watching the World Cup in July 2011.
The breakfast was much better than I received at any other hotel in Germany. There were many freshly cooked items to pick from and probably 25 different drinks to choose from. If you can name a juice, they had it. Champagne? Check. I loved it.
The hotel was close to the man train station in. I would take the U-Bahn to Marienplatz and wander around form there. One night I walked home alone from the Hofbrauhaus (Took an hour or so), and never felt unsafe.
The only (small) complaint I had was a "buzzing" sound form the tram lines at night that would happed every 45 seconds or so. Like I said, my room faced the street, so the overhead wires were close to my window. This is one reason I use a fan, to drown out little noises. The hotel did have a radio and an iPod hook up to play music or listen to a book.
Munich is a beautiful city, and I will be staying at the King's Hotel when I return.
