“Fair, but never a 4 star...”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 January 2012

It's a fair hotel if you want to stay close to Munich central train station (100m) at a fair price (~70 euro/day) and with free wireless internet access. And that's all. It's an outdated hotel far from being a 4 star hotel. Our rooms (2 twin-bed rooms) are old-fashioned and hiting does not work properly (actually too hot, even during winter, no regulation). When we asked to fix the problem, attendand (friendly, but not very helpful) simple said to open the window and that after 10:00pm all hiting system would be turned-off and problem would be solved. We saw other rooms and is possible to conclude that rooms patters are very different even in the same category. It seams that they are refurnishing some rooms and quality varies from one to another. In short: fair if you want to be close to Munich central train station.

Room Tip: Ask to stay in one renovated room. No old carpets, wood carpets instead. Also cleaner.

“Good location”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 January 2012

The hotel is near Munich main station. We could walk to Marienplatz (15 minutes). The accomodation is ok. Breakfast is really good

“What a disgrace!”

When we arrived to check-in there were two guys ahead of us trying to check-in with the most obnoxious hotel worker I have ever encountered. The guys had limited English (and I assume no German) & they were literally being spoken to like idiots by the staff member. He kept saying "BUSINESS OR PLEASURE?" over & over instead of just re-phrasing the question. He was hideously patronising to them. I feel so guilty for not saying something to him, but at the time I had considered the very small chance that the guys had done something to warrant him getting all worked up in the time before we walked in. When it was our turn, my partner started to speak & he just said "NAME, NAME" over the top of him. (I'm not kidding!)

We got to the room and what a dump! The shower curtain was literally yellow with tobacco stains (I have never before been in a bathroom which smelled of cigarettes before so that after you shower you still stink!) Doors were all chipped & the room stank. Had we been greeted by someone human I would have asked to change rooms but we decided to put up with it for the two nights.

The location is great in terms of being near public transport, shopping & the red light district. We were literally awake for two nights listening to drunks carrying on in the street outside. We were there mid-week. Even with the window shut we could still hear breaking glass, yelling, sirens & general noise & then also had the stifling smell of stale smoke.

I will say the other staff members were all very nice & friendly there. The hateful guy might have been having a bad day but I feel that is no excuse for that behaviour. The hotel is very dated & run-down & the lifts are clown-car small, which at check-out time meant we had to wait with our cases for 20 minutes to use them. Breakfast is good.

Room Tip: Choose a room in another hotel!

“Good location but little service”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 November 2011

We stayed for 4 nights in November. We booked this hotel for the location and it was in a great location across from the main train station and a 15 minute walk to the city centre. However, there was no in room information about the hotel services and when we went to reception to ask about Internet access(because we could not phone them as we had no number),they told us that house keeping would put the information handbook in our room the next morning! This turn out to be one A4 sheet of paper with no information about their services. The staff were polite but not very helpful or forth coming with information.
The noise didn't bother us it was winter, however the bedding was rather inadequate. We had 2 single beds pushed together with a small single bed quilt on each.

“Good location, fair price, renovated rooms…lot’s of tourists.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 November 2011

€75 for a single with breakfast (via Hotels.com)

Stayed end October for a weekend, the hotel is very conveniently located by the main train station, and a 10 minutes walk from the main square (Marienplatz). Just across the street is an Aldi supermarket to stock up on water.

My single room faced to the back courtyard and was very quiet. The room was newly renovated but a bit sparsely furnished. The minibar fridge also had to act as the TV stand and the "wardrobe" was an open clothes rack mounted directly above the TV. So I could either hang my clothes or watch TV, both at once was not possible. The toilets and shower are a bit dated and strangely in two separate rooms, each with their own door to the main room. This arrangement takes unnecessary space away from the actual room. But it does reflect the age of the hotel, as do the tiny elevators which must be from the 50’s.

The breakfast buffet has decent selection and was frequently restocked. The dining room is a bit dated and small, during peak hours it was a challenge to get a seat.

The hotel staff is friendly when you approach them with a question or request, but does not go out of their way to offer any services unless you ask.

This hotel is clearly focusing on package tourists, with may coaches lining up outside. The place has a very transient feel to it and the 4* rating is in my view more like a 3* place. However I was satisfied with the service that I got for my money.
