I was previously staying at the Mercure Hotel in Neuperlach Sud. That was a flop -- I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. When my trip was extended, I was happy they did not have any rooms available for me to extend my stay.

The team admin checked me into the Mercure Hotel Orbis Munchen Perlach. I was a little leary of trying another Mercure hotel after the first but this one turned out to be ok. The rooms are good sized, and they have air conditioning. This hotel was renovated about 2 years ago but they still have old CRT style TVs (22", very small). They offer Sky as well (PPV) for those who are interested.

Restaurant is fine, nothing special to report. Breakfast buffet is fine as well.

If you NEED a high speed Internet connection that is actually high speed, you're probably better off getting your own. I'm two-for-two on slower connections at European hotels. Not much can be done about that at this point. It's adequate for surfing and e-mailing, not much more.

Only other disappointment with this hotel is the proximity -- Neuperlach Sud is right next to the train station; this one isn't. They offer shuttle service on-demand though so that helps out. Not having transportation, I'd want to be close to the train myself.

I was supposed to stay in a smoking room as all the non-smoking rooms were fully booked. I am tolerant non-smoker but the smell of cold smoke was really disgusting. Everything from the bed sheets to the carpet was soaked with the smell of smoke. My colleagues had the same issue but the hotel was not able to give us a freshly smelling room. So whenever you stay there make sure you have a non-smoking room. In addition to that, the shower brush did not work so I had to leave unwashed. @Hotel: please make sure you reduce the numner of smoking-rooms or make sure you have a better AC.

We just had an excellent stay at this mercure in neuperlach, at the outskirts of munich. The location is 30 mins away from the city center, 5 mins by bus, then 25 mins subway. But, the large PEP shopping center nearby and every 5-10 minute buses make transportation a non-issue. We stayed with 2 young children ages 5 and 7, and were made to feel very welcomed. The kids received 2 teddy bears upon check-in, and our room was quickly changed to a suite when we discovered that the 2 rooms we had reserved as part of the family package were not connected (our thanks to the manager and the very helpul young gentleman at the desk!). The hotel just finished rennovations, and the results are beautiful. Nice, clean and spacious, and with the included breakfast and dinner with the family package, a good deal. The room had all ammenities, including a wide array of toiletries, sewing necessities, etc. The sheets were spotlesss, fresh and soft, and the beds extremely comfortable. We even noted a very pleasant smell throught the hallways, fresh and citrus-sy! The included dinner was good, chef''s choice, but almost a bargain, since it even included a beverage per person. The "Hubertus Keller" restaurant in the basement is a pleasant surprise with its true, warm and comfortably bavarian rustic charm. The real knock-out was the breakfast buffet, again included, which had 4 big bars featuring everything from fresh baked goods to fruits, yogurts, cereals, juices, 7 different jellies, 3 different honeys, cold cuts, cheeses, hot english/american b-fast items and pretty much anything else you could ask for. We ate right at 10am, and called it brunch! The best tip for anyone is to book at their website, and take advantage of the packages, they are well worth the price. Also, stay in a suite, over a basic, 2-single (twin) bed room, it makes a world of difference, from cold, european functionality you'll upgrade to world-class accommodations. The staff was extremely friendly, helpful and well-trained, which is such a pleasure in sometimes unfriendly, gruff europe! :o) We will be back for sure!

The hotel is basically OK: the rooms, the decor, the level of cleanliness, the services are all basically OK. The location is OK if you don't expect to be near the city centre.

However, the hotel fails to rise above the OK category in almost every way: the rooms are pretty average, the views nothing to speak of, the decor is OK but nothing spectacular. The service was OK but a bit slow and uniterested and at first there were items in my mini bar bill I hadn't used. The restaurant was OK for both breakfast and dinner. The food was good (I had a steak for a dinner) but a bit over-priced, the wine list was OK. The internet connection was basically OK but a bit expensive.

The hotel is NOT in the city centre: it's a 10 minute walk to the train/underground station and a 25 minute journey from there to the city centre.
