I stayed here for 2 nights with my 18yo son, specifically to visit the Oktoberfest before he goes to University. The hotel is quite a way from Munich centre, along Dachauer Strasse which is very easy to find. An earlier review bemoaned the lack of transport, this is no longer the case, the 21 tram to the centre stops right outside and the mainline (S) station is 7 minutes walk. Tickets work in zones, we were able to get a ticket for 2 that allowed unlimited all day travel on the trams, trains and underground for 9.40 Euros. Maps (and tickets) are available from reception.
The staff were very friendly and helpful, spoke excellent English, the rooms were clean and comfy with good beds.... but too hot. There is no air conditioning and a lot of noise from the street if you open a window. Breakfast was 15E each per day, pricey for a bowl of cereal.
Overall a good hotel with excellent transport links.
As for sights to see the Deutch Museum has lots and would take a week to get round.
Then get over to the Oktoberfest for great food, beer and company.
I wish I could have stayed longer.

I booked this hotel online from a third party booking webpage that offered the third night free. I was pleasently surprised with what I found. Here is a rundown of the good and the bad (though the good far outweighed the bad):

Good:
- Very friendly, knowledgable staff that spoke excellent English
- Room was nicely appointed and clean (bathroom was spotless)
- The breakfast was included in my room rate and was very good
- Computer terminals in the lobby were very convinent
- We found two really good & reasonably priced restaraunts (Italian & Bavarian) near the hotel
- Good service and offerings at the hotel lounge
- Decor very modern and up to date

Not so good:
- Located a little far out from the city center, however, between the Tram and the S-Bahn getting to the center city is not a problem - we bought a pass for several days that got us all arround town for a very reasonable price at the S-Bahn station
- If you have a room at the front of the hotel during the warmer months you'll want to get as high as possible due to noise from the street when you have the windows open

Overall this place is a great value for the money. A comperable hotel closer to the city center would cost much more. I was very satisfied paying what I did and riding the S-Bahn/U-Bahn/Tram arround town.

The positives - a very friendly staff, half of which spoke excellent english, nice big, clean rooms, internet access in the lobby (when it worked), when I arrived at 8 am from a flight from the US, they checked me in right away, good value for the price.

The negatives - the location. The hotel is situated in Moosach, which is on the outer edges of what is considered central Munich. The hotel is also on what used to be the 20 tram tracks, which are currently completely torn up for restoration, all the way back to the main train station. The hotel is also very near what will be an extention to the UBahn line, which is no where near completion. When both of these services are up and running (clearly 1 + year), this will be a great hotel. Unfortunately, as of Aug. 2008, its a pain to get too - the only option is the S1 and that runs only every 20 minutes at peak times. Also, the rooms at the front of this hotel are VERY LOUD. The street noise (the hotel is near a corner) is deafening and there is no AC, which means the windows have to stay open during the day. Pay the extra and get a comfort room in the back. Finally, they need to do a bit better in terms of noting what the prices for things are - internet use, the breakfast, telephone calls, the pay TV movies. No where could I find what these services cost (other than that they did cost). Make it obvious what the extras are - that way there are no surprises later.

The hotel has spacious, clean rooms and as long as you book online, reasonable pricing as well(we witnessed someone booking at the front desk and they were charged 3 times what we paid on-line). The hotel is adjacent to the end stop of the tram, which is very handy but can also be a bit noisy if your room looks out over the street. The rooms all have fans so once you close the window the street noise is gone. If you've booked over the internet they will charge you 15 euros per person for breakfast, my suggestion is there are two great little bakeries just down the street where you can have fresh cakes, buns with cheese or meat with a great coffee for a fraction of that.

Free internet and coffee in the lobby area and if you are driving they will charge you 8 or 9 euros to park your vehicle in their lot. An alternative is to wait until a spot opens up out front and then ask the desk clerk for a sign for the dash of the car. The Alte Wirt across the street has great food and beer.
