“Surprisingly o.k.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 January 2012

For sure, this hotel is nothing fancy and the location isn't superb. But it is definitely good value. We paid 79 euros for a double room (2 people, one night) and very surprised about the very clean and quiet room.

You can walk in about 10 minutes to Hohenzollernplatz which is both an underground station and a sizzling area full of restaurants in the heart of Schwabing.

All in all a very reasonable option for a stay in Bavaria's capital city.

“Walking Munich, good price”

The Vitalis hotel is in a quiet location about a twenty to thirty minute walk from central Munich. The underground station is only a five to ten minute walk, and the bus and tram are available at the corner of the street. Our room was very spacious with a microwave, refrigerator and a sink inside a large cupboard. The door to our balcony could be opened for fresh air.

The Vitalis is in a great location to walk to Olympia Park to see the fireworks on New Year's Eve. The Nordbad was only two blocks away. This public pool and bathhouse is really fun. They have indoor and outdoor pools, sauna, steam bath, and hot tubs. It was worth four euros.
We found many inexpensive places to eat while walking from this pleasant suburb (Schwabing West) to downtown.

I highly recommend Hotel Vitalis.

Housekeeping did a great job and the desk staff were more than willing to assist us in any way.
Many times the desk Cleo showed us how to get to places of interest, called to make sure sites were open, and offered suggestions when we had questions. This hotel was very clean. we had a good dinner at the restaurant downstairs, but I would not recommend the breakfast. Also, drinks were very expensive here.

“Far better than expected”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 August 2011

After reading reviews on Tripadvisor, I wasn't really sure what to expect. I was, in the end. pleasantly surprised. When we first arrived at the hotel, I was a bit upset as we had been put in a smoking room with two separate beds even though we had specifically asked for a non-smoking room. When we asked if we could have a room with a double bed, we were offered a "business room" with a wide single bed (a small queen I guess you can call it) that was also non-smoking. Since the first room was definitely not one of the refurbished ones, but the "business" room was, we went for it. On our second night when we were leaving the room to go out for dinner, we couldn't get the door to lock properly. When we told the staff at the reception they immediately offered us a new room. This time - finally - the nice renovated non-smoking double room we had booked in the first place. We later found out that the hotel had been fully booked our first night, which was why we couldn't get that type of room when we first arrived. The only complaint I have about the hotel is that some of the staff in the breakfast room had trouble understanding that they're there to serve the guests and not the other way around...

The location of the hotel is excellent if you want to be close to the amazing Olympic park. It's also easy to reach from the airport (Train S1 and Underground), so no problem there! It's fully possible to walk to Altstadt (Old Town/Central Munich) but be aware that it takes about 45 minutes... The really nice area "Schwabing" is close by (hotel is located on the very outskirts of that neighbourhood) which offers many nice restaurants and shops.

All in all, not a bad experience staying in Vitalis. They were helpful when we had problems which is more than you can say about many hotels!

“The real Munich”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 June 2011

We spent 3 nights at the Vitalis, and I have to say, this Schwabing neighborhood grew on me. It is in a neighborhood with local gyms, schools, and joggers and bike-riders, etc. Along with local residents, we hopped the trolley to get where we needed to go. When we finally picked up a car, it was nice that the parking garage is adjacent to the hotel (warning: I pity anyone with anything larger than a SmartCar! These are the worlds tiniest spaces! What fun maneuvering a regular sedan in and out of there!). A real treat was being able to walk a few blocks to the Augustiner Brau restaurant with incredible beer and typical Bavarian food (so good and authentic, we ate there 2 nights in a row). I conclude that the Vitalis is a perfect location if you are already familiar with Munich and do not mind not being within walking distance of Marienplatz or the Hauptbahnhof, etc.

“Clean Room OK Location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 October 2010

Three colleagues of mine stayed in two rooms, the rooms are very large (with good size bathrooms) The rooms are clean, bathrooms are VERY clean (they look brand new)
I was hesitant to stay here at first, since the hotel had bad rankings on tripadvisor, however it was the cheapest room during Oktoberfest (250 Euros/night) So we took a chance, we were very suprised, its a good hotel in a good location, few minute walk to subway (U) The layout of the room is basic, but it has everything you need.
I highly recommend this hotel, if price becomes a deciding factor, there are probably much nicer hotels in Munich, but this hotel does not deserve the 340 ranking on tripadvisor, I see it more like in the mid 100s.
