“Thats one good option”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 December 2011

Hi. I stayed 3 days in this hotel and its better than I have imagined for the posts here in the TA. Of course its an old fashioned hotel, a bit kitch. Is a big hotel more for groups of excursions. If you know that all is old, you will stay well in the hotel.

Good things: big room (superior room number 519), quiet, large and confortable bed, large wardrobe, regular bathroom, good clim, its old but not small as an old room. .Staff is nice. Breakfast is very good, in a big room, with lots lots of options, really good. And the breakfast room remember the hotels of years 70....nice
- Location: is in a street not so beatufiul, but is very well located. You will be steps from the subway, its almost in front of Le Meridien, and if you go to Munich by train (remember that airport is around 40 km from the downton!!!!) you will be steps from the main train station, so you dont need a taxi.

Bad things: internet is not free (1 day 20euros and 30 days:35euros, but works good, for me the internet is essential and must be free in all the hotels), Towels in the bathroom are terrible. And as I said the old furnitures.
Thats no at cheap hotel also.
Thats one option in Munich, not bad, but for me the cost benefit is the worst problem.

Room Tip: Superior room are good, i stayed in the 5 floor, 519, a nice room.

If your looking for a nice hotel, downtown and close to the central railway station then I would recommend this one. Rooms are clean and the bathroom large enough except the shower is over a bath.Staff are friendly and very helpful. Internet access is available in the lobby for free otherwise it is expensive for wifi in your room. Breakfast at 22 euros is a bit on the expensive side especially when you can walk across the road to the train station and have a cooked breakfast for 8 to 10 euros.

“biggest disappointment in a long time”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 December 2011

Since I had been to excellent Maritim hotels in other cities before, I expected a great experience at this four star hotel - and I was deeply disappointed:
The first room I got was facing the heavy trafficy road and I had the lights shining at the hotel right in front of my room. The second room as a tiny room with a single bed, even though the booking clearly said Queen size.

The room's look was nothing more but 80s three star standard with old furniture and carpets. The bathroom may have gotten new tiles since the 80s, but that's about it. The lighting in the room is more than poor.

The desk had one (1!) power outlet, there was none at the bedside (except at the end where nobody needs it).

The Internet access did not work properly (failed after some time and I had to unplug, and re-plug the device) and was expensive (15 EUR for 24h). When I asked their support to take it off the bill because I in fact could not even get one Email downloaded, he said he is not entitled to do that and I would need to contact the hotel. When I asked the hotel, they said they would need to contact the Internet provider...

A few details:
- staff was friendly, however mostly ineffective
- breakfast was good
- location is good (very near train station and downtown Munich), if you don't mind sex shops all around
- old and small TV set (ok for a 3star, but not for a pricy 4star)
- no bathrobe on the room (it took about 10 minutes to deliver one)

The sauna was the biggest (bad) joke: There is an infrared cabin squeezed into the corner next to the pool. The sauna however is a beautiful big sauna - with a window into the pool area (and the mixed showers right next to it), so that you feel like being in the zoo. In central Europe, at least in Germany the sauna usually is a textile free zone and is meant to be relaxing... in a four star hotel I'd expect something else than this.

“Swimming in the city”

Every time i go to Munich, i check this Maritim hotel if i can afford their suggested price.
Its a nice quiet hotel in the middle of the city. It has a swimming pool on the 7th floor.
The breakfast is outstanding. It will be perfect if you are allowed to make your own espresso, that takes a little too long.

“decent”

My first experience with a Maritim hotel. It was our 3rd of 3 nights on a short tour of Bavaria and this was the first hotel without a free buffet breakfast (22 euro) and without free parking (18 euro), despite being more expensive. The ladies at the desk were no more friendly than I've come to expect while living in Germany. The room was adequate, clean, and quiet, and there was a chocolate santa waiting for us when we arrived. We slept very well. The shower head and hose were poorly designed in that, unless you held it, it pointed either to the wall or the curtain. As far as location, it's kind of an ugly area. But I it's good if you want to be close to the train station.
