Overview: This hotel is in a super location for access to the airport and downtown – in fact, you simply exit the subway and take the elevator up into the lobby never happening to step outside. It is a 35-minute ride to the airport ($13.00US one-way) and two stops to downtown Munich where there are numerous restaurants and sights to see. I will always stay here when traveling to Munich.
The hotel is very nice and rooms are quite comfortable and normal size for European standards. The food and drinks in the concierge lounge are worth the price of admission – so see if you can negotiate this into your overall room rate. Breakfast had a significant amount of items to choose from and the social hour in the evening had good beers and food as well. Made for a great place to begin the evening. Staff is extremely courteous and will do what they can to meet your needs. We never made it to the gym so cannot provide any insight here. Internet speed was very fast so able to stream movies in the evening as there are not many choices (one I believe) for US-type channels.
Tip: This hotel is the best (price & location) to access the sights and sounds of Munich – great beer and local foods abound in so many places within walking distance or a very short subway ride. Recommend Schneider House down by the Marienplatz for great food and drink – more local and better food than the Hofbrauhouse that seems to target tourists (if never been – go see and have a beer). Highly recommend you rent a car and get outside Munich to see the sights that are very close (1.5 hours maximum) to the city and with a GPS getting around is pretty easy. Also recommend getting to the Andechs Monastery to go taste and see some of the best beer in Germany (Andechs)…see a very nice beer garden and get some great food. I think this is one of the best beers in Germany and to be a monk who has a brewery attached, life ain’t bad. Also get down to (on train or by car) to Garmisch as it is absolutely beautiful and you can go up to the Zugspitze which is the highest pint in Germany – and the view is unbelievable.
