We stayed at the hotel for 5 nights in July and we were pleased with the services it provide.

The location was almost perfect. We were able to walk to all major sights in Munich during our stay (except the Olympic Stadium and the Schloss Nymphenburg; there is a metro station and a tram station very close to the hotel). Although the area at nights made us sometimes feel not so safe to walk through...

The room and the bathroom were spacious enough and very clean. We liked the breakfast ( we felt that nothing was missing).

Upon our arrival at the reception desk there was a young woman. She wasn't friendly or professional at all. Didn't even informed us about the hours the breakfast was served.. But the older man in the afternoon was great. He was very helpful with everything we asked.

The only things we didn't like: were the constructions taking place just outside the hotel and the fact that the reception closes at night so you have to get in with your own key from a door at the back of the hotel.

We stayed in this hotel for two nights in December. We were very happy with the value for money. We were in a five bed room that backed on to the scaffolding mentioned in a previous review. There was no work being carried out while we were there. Otherwise, I could imagine it would be quite noisy in addition to a lack of privacy. We had almost no noise at all because we faced the "under renovation theatre in the back of the building".

The room was spacious compared to other similar set ups we experienced. The toilet was smelly with that urine in the grout type of smell. The toilet was slightly removed from the beds, so it was only an issue when we were in there. The sheets were clean and everything else was fine. It was very convenient and we would stay there again. One point to keep in mind, there is no wifi. This is a bit of a pain. Also, no bar fridge. But, value for money was terrific. The service was not very friendly, but the girl allowed a slightly late check out to fit in with our plans. They were quite flexible. You can eat breakfast in the cafe downstairs. We chose to take care of our own breakfast. Oh, and the lift is tiny and fits on three people in at a time....fine for short trips.

Well, where do I begin. First of all the hotel looked lovely on the internet but, when we got there, you could not see the hotel for scaffolding and had to walk down an alleyway of scaffolding to even get into the hotel. We overlooked the building site and the work started every morning at 7am. There were not tea or coffe making facilities in the room or spare pillows or extra blankets. The old man on reception at night was very rude (should have retired as he clearly did not care about his guests). Reluctant to make me a cup of tea when I returned in the evenings (not late, around 9pm) and flatly refused to find us any spare pillows (there was only one very worn out pillow each and was like putting your head on fresh air). I don't know where these rating come from but it was no way 4*. It was in a good location for the main square at least, and near to the main railway station. Would not recommend.

This was our second stay at this hotel - after saying "never again".

This time, we knew what to expect but actually found it much better.

The elderly gentleman on Reception could not have been more helpful - throughout our stay.

We ended up in the same room as previously (a superior double) and, while there were still things that were not pleasing, it was a vast improvement on our prior visit some 5 or 6 years ago.
The room looked like it had been redecorated and seemed brighter and cleaner.. The safe was now fastened down rather than just lying loosely in the wardrobe.

The bathroom had been redone and a new shower fitted. Water was still not that hot and pressure left much to be desired but generally, it was much better.

Breakfast was, as before, excellent with a good selection of both hot and cold choices.

The hotel is ideally situated for the centre of Munich as well as local and long-distance transport.

One thing to bear in mind is that the rooms are not air conditioned and could become quite uncomfortable in the heat of summer. The area can be quite noisy and trying to sleep with the window open could be a problem.

Remember too that gradings in Germany do not seem to match many of the other parts of the world and do not be fooled by this hotel's 4 star rating. I would give it 2 to 2.5 star equivalence to hotels in the UK, for example.

We are hoping to go back to Munich next year and will look to stay here again.
