The hotel is very relaxed and comfortable. The lounge feels like relaxing at a friend’s home and the daily breakfast buffet is fresh and served with a view of the town and mountains. The location is about an 8-10 minute walk through the pedestrian district to the train station, a large supermarket & the hockey stadium. The hotel provides passes for the local bus (beware you must get off at the end of the route on the town buses so make sure your on the correct one)... bus is a short ride to the ski lifts and picks up directly in front of the hotel. If your not skiing the location is still great because it’s at one end of the pedestrian district and is surrounded by great restaurants (highly recommend Bollywood Indian food and La Toscana Italian is amazing!!) The food served at the hotel is priced fair and delicious also. They served a dinner Christmas Eve that was an amazing buffet.
The hotel is relaxed and friendly but this is a small town, don’t expect a concierge like a big city or 24 hour service, the wake calls are not reliable but they charge a fair price, include FREE breakfast & Wi-Fi throughout the hotel, including in the room, FREE bus passes and ski storage & best of all are very nice and accommodating and treat you like a friend not just a source of revenue.
My husband and I stayed here two years in a row and will be back! Both rooms were great, once was a room for 3 people, which can be difficult to find at a fair price. We might try to rent a home in Garmisch if we have a large group but for the price, with wi-fi, breakfast, bus pass, location & atmosphere, you cant beat the experience at the posthotel!
