Stayed 2 nights. Service was great and staff helped with maps, times, etc. Located near center of Garmisch, so driving or catching bus to sights was very easy. Overall a great deal for the price in a town that can be a bit overpriced at times.

We decided to go to Garmisch at the last minute to go hiking, and we found the Wittelsbacher. We were pleasantly surprised at how friendly and warm the staff were. We got there fairly late, so the front desk pointed us to where the restaurants were. They brought our baggage up for us, and just overall made us feel like we were home. They told us all the times for everything to do, and gave us maps of the area. We went with friends, so we got a family room (2 rooms connected by a door so you still have privacy) and the price was not bad at all for 2 nights. They had a great breakfast as well. I would not hesitate to stay again!

The entire visit was very good. We had the double room. We had spectacular views of the mountains with a nice balcony. The staff was always very nice and helpful. The breakfast buffet was good and had a good amount of variety to offer. The room was a bit on the tight side, but was functional especially since you don't expect to stay in the room the entire time. The only thing that was lacking was a small refrigerator that would have been nice to have for a few extra things.

From the reviews and that it is ranked #1 on this sight...I expected much more...cleanliness was the major issue, broken glass on the floor, massive amount of hair left on the bathroom floor, old dirty carpet, and cobwebs in the light fixture, I looked into the mirror to see if I was being to hard...and it is dirty. And the last thing is that they know the floor is dirty as they have put bath mats beside the beds.
Very low on the scale of value, there are locations that are old, but make up for it with clean rooms.
