This hotel is well within walking distance of all the shops and restaurants. It is an old building but is well furnished and, as always in Germany, spotlessly clean. There is also free parking in back of the hotel. The breakfast is very nice. Our room had a balcony and looked out toward the mountains - a breathtaking view.
Our initial check-in experience was met with a bit of rudeness from the clerk when we asked to see the rooms before making a decision, but the next day he was much nicer.

Serviceable, clean, comfortable hotel located on fringe of tourist center surrounded by shops, restaurants.

Stately old building, the service didn't match the building. Reserved parking was not for the faint of heart, and shared by more cars than there were spaces. On check in the young lady at the desk did not have the guest cards provided by the city with special reduced fares to various attractions in the area. Although we were charged for them, we never received them. Grumpy old man at the desk at check out refused to credit us for the non receipt of these, but we question if the city received their fee even tho collected by the hotel. No return visits for us!

We booked a suite.... We had one medium sized balcony and a larger one. Both of breathtaking views of the river, Mountains (Alps), and great location! Right in the center of Berchesgaden, with plenty of souvenir shops, cafes, coffee shops, and fancy restaurants nearby. Casual and fancy dining close to the hotel. Has convenient laundry mat right next store. Detergent can be bought at the hotel front desk for only 1 Euro. Has big elevator! Great Staff! Everything is within 5 min. walking distance. Near Lake Konigsee, Bahnhof (Train station), Tourist Info Booth, etc. Can go to Tourist Information and book VERY Good tours of the nearby salt mines, and Eagle's Nest. Has good Sound of Music tours too! I plan on going back to the very nice Hotel. Would Recommend the hotel to anyone!!!!!
