I visited this hotel with my family when I was younger, and we thought it would be nice to experience this hotel again. The experience turned out to be different than the first time. The room smelled of sigarettes, we couldn't hang any of of clothes in the cabinet because of the smell. The room had absolutely no view, we looked straight into a tree/bush. The bathroom was freezing cold, so the towels I used on the night before at around 6 pm, was really wet the next morning at 11 am.

the hotel itself was a bit hard to find, being located on top of a hill. the decor is bavarian but a bit old fashioned.
the scenery in Berchtesgaden is stunning, well worth a trip!
the rooms were comfy and big, the bathroom was spacious and clean as well.
the only thing we found a bit disappointing was breakfast. it was open from 7.00 till 10.00 and we came before nine o'clock and most of the stuff was gone already and it was never filled up again.
the hotel has a parking garage for 1.50 euro per night, which is very cheap.
internet is only available in the lobby, and only if you have an account with T-mobile.

Family visited from the states in late July and we decided beautiful Berchtesgadenland would be a great place to spend a few days. Finding the good hotel was key, because they wanted to be in or very close to town, have some quiet and still be an "upscale" establishment. The Alpenhotel Kronprinz was perfect. We booked three rooms which, though not identical, were all large (huge by European standards), clean and pleasant. Having a good sized balcony/deck was a nice addition. The desk personnel were good and manager (perhaps owner) was pleasant and available for questions or problems. There is an elevator and easy parking available either outside or under the hotel.
The hotel is about 10 minutes walk to the central platz. Walking back was a bit challenging, especially after dinner, but we took our time and enjoyed the view of the Watzmann. There are a couple good looking restaurants within a few blocks. The breakfast buffet was very nice and varied each day. The patio overlooking the valley is great for breakfast. We ate outside of the downstairs "bar" one evening where there's a small but good menu. The restaurant is also open evenings. The majority of patrons were German speaking; the restaurant and bar felt like a comfortable local hangout. There's much to do near Berchtesgaden, so next time we'll stay a few more nights. If booking through the hotel directly, request a room with a mountain view - gorgeous. I'd recommend this hotel to anyone.

Treff Berchtesgaden is a beautiful Bavarian hotel. The ladies that work there all have the german dresses on and the decor is wonderful too. The rooms were extremely big and very comfortable. There is a spa in the hotel, too, with a wet sauna, a dry sauna, a tanning bed, tubs to soak your feet, and shower stalls. It is kind of confusing when you are looking for this hotel though. The name on the hotel is not Treff It is something else. I can't remember the name but the hotel is located up a mountainside and is on the corner of 2 streets. It is a very nice 10/15 minute walk to the town center. I highly recommend this hotel. I hope you enjoy your stay there as much as we did. We were there June 8 & 9, 2004.
