“Good option”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 August 2010

The hotel is much better than most hotels in Bayreuth - and also much more expensive. During festival we paid 166 Euros for a double room bed and breakfast (the breakfast costs 14 Euros/person).
Very friendly and efficient staff. The bus shuttle to and from the festival house includes also a glass of champagne to start you off, and costs 6 Euros/person. And you can have dinner after the performance. Food was good, breakfast one of the best I had recently.
Rooms and bath ok, usual standard. When we entered the double room we found separate beds, but they are easily put together (and staff will help you, if you can't manage).

“Nice for a short stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 July 2010

This hotel is centrally located in Bayreuth offering a decently priced accommodation. There's a nice garden with interesting sculptures outside allowing for a nice walk during warm evenings. In addition, the hotel features a spa, which was clean. It does get crowded in the afternoon, though.
During the opera festival, the hotel provides shuttle service to Festspielhaus - the venue of the Wagner Festival.
Overall, the stuff were very amiable and professional. The room was big and clean. The breakfast was ample and had a variety of offerings to choose from.
On a negative side, for the price one pays (the hotel belongs to a rather pricey option), the room did not have a coffee/tea maker and it seems that the hotel's restaurant does not serve food after 23:00 even during the Festival times. There's a wi-fi, but it costs around 8 EUR/hour. If lucky, one can connect to open networks that are around the hotel from cafes and private providers.

“Covenient Town Centre Standardised Hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 January 2008

One night on business here.
Parking below the hotel is chargeable and limited.
Hotel staff excellent, switching to English as soon as I spoke. Oh we Brit's should try harder with laguages.
Room is the, now ubiquitous, affair in 'stock hotels', but clean, comfortable and well maintained nevertheless.
Easy walking for the town centre wher we ate at Oscars - excellent value for money.

“One of the places to stay during the Wagner Festival”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 July 2007

We booked a Comfort (= Standard) Room during the Bayreuth Wagner Festival for a fair price (148 EUR incl. breakfast).

The hotel itself, a standard conference hotel right around the corner from Bayreuth's picturesque Old Town, is nothing to write home about, but they added some nice touches such as free soft drinks in the lobby or some printed information on the Wagner opera of the evening on your breakfast table.

The room was basic, but had all the comfort we needed. Unfortunately, it had a strange "locker room" odor. If you need a mini bar or in-room safe deposite box, you should upgrade to a Superior Room. The whole premises have T-Mobile W-LAN access which was very convenient. Our room was absolutely quiet - always a big plus.

Front desk was very helpful when asked for directions and taxi reservations.

Hot breakfast buffet offered many variations and was a good opportunity for celebrity spotting, as the hotel - as basic as it is - is one of the places to stay during the Bayreuth Festival.

  • Liked — Quiet room.
  • Disliked — Strange in-room odor.

“Ok but could be much better....”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 January 2007

We stayed here for four nights as part of the Bayreuth Leger coach tour. We'd repeatedly told Leger that we were vegetarian and they in turn assured us that the hotel would be able to cater for us. Out of our four nights there, we had only one edible, proper meal. As this was over the Christmas period, we were particularly disappointed - why is it so difficult for hotels to cater properly for people who don't eat meat or fish? We were promised vegetable lasagne one night but this didn't materialise until the following evening; in effect, we were only offered salad as a starter (except for the one night when, miracle of miracles, they managed to prepare a soup without meat or fish for us), and pasta with tomato sauce (looked like heated up ketchup to us...). Very very disappointing. Despite this being a four star hotel, the public spaces (at least those available to us) were extremely small; the bar was minute and, if you didn't hurtle yourself into this tiny little space immediately after your meal, there was no room and all seats were taken up with people helping to ensure a wholly carcinogenic atmosphere throughout. You could barely see for smoke. So, apart from THIS 'space', there were four seats in reception...or your room. That was it. Most disappointing - maybe they could open up one or more of their much-vaunted conference rooms when groups of tourists are staying with them - they lost a lot of money because people just left immediately after dinner since so little space was available.
Don't bother.
