“Great location and parking, but nothing makes it very special”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 January 2012

The Arvena is a solid hotel that has all of the amenities one needs for a comfortable stay. The pricing is on the high end, especially the internet, very expensive.
The hotel can be full with conventions which can cause some issues finding parking and getting around.
The breakfast is good and standard. The bar and restaurant have a great selection of local beers and spirits as well as freshly prepared food. Be careful on ordering water, it is very expensive!
The staff was courteous and for international traveler always spoke English. Although I do try to speak German when possible.
The location is great, it is within walking distance to the Altstadt and all of the great places Bayreuth has to offer.

“Good size rooms clean and tidy”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 November 2011

I was visting a supplier who booked me this hotel for 1 night, and was pleasantly surprised as my twin was a good size, including a free bottle of water plus a pack of haribos on the pillow!
It had a duvet which was excellent and good shower after I worked out you get water to come out of the shower head
I left very early so missed breakfast but the reception were helpful and the free apples at reception was a nice touch

“Great Stay in Wagner Town”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 September 2011

This was our third trip to Bayreuth for the Festspiele. First time at the Arvena Kongress - which has been recommended by friends. We were especially glad this time because the Arvena is the only hotel in Bayreuth with air conditioning and it was very hot and very humid for the entire week. The Room was adequate size and well appointed, but if you don't want a Bavarian split bed - you must order a Junior Suite room. The breakfast-brunch-lunch was bountiful and was included with the cost of the room. Many hotels are not including breakfast so you need to look closely at the amenities when booking. Also they do have wi-fi in the rooms for a fee but be aware that the clock starts ticking the MINUTE you purchase the access code and lasts for exactly 12 hours. They have a free internet kiosk in the lobby and it was always busy.
Free champagne and snacks as you depart for the opera AND free shuttle ride in the "old time" bus which seats 12 and then there is a large bus which departs 45 minutes prior to curtain time - most of the other hotels charge for bus service.
One feature was the great bar for meeting after the opera - they didn't seem to close and many of us lingered well into the morning.
For Festspiele attendees - the English Language preview lectures conducted by the New York Wagner Society are held in the ballroom of the Arvena Kongress (2010 & 2011).
In the lobby the most delightful Barbara Crawford has a small boutique with hand made jewelry with all sorts of pearls, stones and crystals. She will do custom work and her prices are very reasonable. I bought many vacation gifts there.
The Arvena has so many plusses - there is no reason to book anywhere else when staying in Bayreuth.

Room Tip: The curtains weren't very heavy for blocking the sun, so if you want to sleep in - I'd sugge...

“A pleasant hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 August 2011

We stayed at the hotel for about a week for the Bayreuth R. Wagner Festival.
The room are clean and practical, however not very large unless you take a Junior Suite.
We enjoyed in particular the excellent breakfast (perhaps only for the Festival period??? t.b.checked) which lasted from early in the moring until 13:30 and amounted practically to half-board. At ca. 11:30 warm dishes were offered.
We also enjoyed the fitness centre which has very few pieces of sports equipment but a large, clean sauna where we never met anyone else.
The restaurant for dinner is very good.
The rooms are Free Internet acces only in the hotel lobby, but since there is just one computer it is often unavailable when you need it due to high demand (therefore I stated "No Free High Speed Internet"). Internet is available in the rooms against charge.

“Great Hotel for exploring Bayreuth”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 June 2011

This is a very nice hotel. We called on short notice for reservations, and were helped immediately. Hotel is a 10 minute walk through the river park to central Bayreuth. Staff provided information on what to visit and recommended great places to eat in Bayreuth. Hotel caters to business traveler and groups, but this does not detract from a family stay. Breakfast is included, and is a large buffet with a variety of choices. Rooms are clean, beds comfortable, nicely decorated. Cable TV but Internet access is not free. Parking available in garage for a fee or outside for free. We would stay there again.

Room Tip: Call them when in country.
