My husband and I spend 2 nights here in May 2009. We got a good weekend special price over the hotel homepage and really enjoyed this 4 star property.
We came to hike in the area, so a few times we came back muddy and wet because we had a few thunderstorms this weekend. We were clearly the worst dressed people there, most of them seemed to be a bit more fancy or on business, but the staff treated us just the same as the white shirt and tie guy next to us.
The room were very clean, the bathroom also and the balcony spotless. We had a nice view over the town, though 2 large chestnut trees sort of blocked the best parts of town. Nevertheless it was beautiful.
You get a minibar, an electronic safe, phone and TV in your room. Bathroom had bathtub with shower curtain, all clean, no mildew.
The beds were comfortable, but somewhat soft and bouncy. The duvets seemed too thick at first, but were fine in the end.
The breakfast included in the price offers a choice of different teas (you can serve yourself or you are served at the table), coffee, rolls, breads (toaster provided), croissants, muffins, cake and dry breads. Also choice of 5 cereals, fresh fruit, different yogurts and creams, also fruit salad. Hot food was bacon, sausage and scrambled eggs. They also offered a selection of jams and jellies, also Nutella and different cheeses and wurst (like pastramis), even some sort of fish. The view from the breakfast room is spectacular, too.
There are just 2 things that weren't so great. For one thing, unless you are a hiker, you need a car in the area because there is nothing around it, not even a store or anything. We always took the car to the city, because the hill is steep going back up. You can walk it, of course, but it will be exhausting. The good news is the spectacular view you get in no other hotel and also there is plenty of parking any time of the day, and it is free outside. You find that with no city hotel.
Also, there is no AC. We were there in early May and the room heated up during the sunny parts of the day pretty much. There aren't any blinds, either, only curtains to darken the room. As most rooms are looking to the South (all with balcony do) you will feel the heat in summer I am sure.
Nevertheless, this was almost the perfect stay.
