Touring Baden-Wurtemburg with the family we stayed just one night in Ulm and we wished we'd had longer. The hotel was simply gorgeous - sumptuously appointed and beautifully decorated. The location could not be better, very central almost opposite the Rathaus and 2 minutes from the Munster. There were a couple of Italian restaurants and a Mexican restaurant nearby by the Danube. Beds were very comfortable. We had room 25 at the back of the hotel which has recently been refitted to a high standard. It was made up for our family (of 4) for which the room was just about big enough. Breakfast was lovely and the staff very friendly.

We stayed at the Rathus using it as a base to travel around the local area. We found it very hospitable and clean. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The hotel was right on the main square very central to the main and older part of the city and the river. Visitors with walking difficulties would have problems as it is stairs only. Our room overlooked the main square which was very nice. I would imagine that the square is very busy in the summer evenings and noise may be a problem. In the UK this would be called a bed and breakfast as opposed to a hotel, but whats in a name.The breakfast was good and more than adequate with a wide variety of breads, fruit, cereal and eggs. The only thing missing was tea/ coffee facilities in the room. Parking was free. There are plenty of bars and cafe's close by and the staff in the tourist information centre in the square opposite the front of the cathedral were very helpful. A very nice hotel and we would use it again if we went back in the off season.

We had the family suite (2 bedrooms and a bath) on the top floor. There is a small elevator to the next to the top floor so we did have to move bags to the top floor, but it was worth it. There was a great view and a very nice balcony. It was absolutely, perfectly clean. There was a problem with the television, but it was very quickly fixed by the very gracious staff. Breakfast was excellent. We had our adult daughter with us and she loved her separate room. We loved watching all the weddings taking place across the square. There are also some very nice restaurants around the area - all available by walking. I recommend that you ask for (and pay a small fee for) the parking spots right by the hotel.

My wife and I stayed one night at this place and it was awesome. We didn't have a reservation, but they were able to offer us a room. The hotel was a 5 minute walk to downtown and the Christmas market, and a 15 minute walk to the train station, which was very convenient. The whole place had a cozy antique-y feel to it, making this stay pleasant.

Unfortunately, they did not have an elevator to the other floors, only stairs. They did have a lovely breakfast, though, and the staff was more than helpful in making sure we had a pleasant stay. They even spoke a little bit of English.

There was nothing unpleasant about this hotel at all.
