We booked the Hotel Hafner through an on-line booking agency, not knowing what to expect once we arrived in Stuttgart. We were pleasantly surprised. This smaller European style, non-chain hotel is exacly the kind of place we like to stay while traveling abroad. We arrived late and were warmly greeted by the hotel staff. Our experience was just the opposite of that of the previous reviewer. In every case, we found the staff, both morning and night, to be very friendly and helpful. Our room was inexpensive, but large, clean, quiet, and comfortable. The location was very convenient to the S-Bahn and U-Bahn so we could easily get to central Stuttgart, where we used the wonderful German rail system for sightseeing beyond Stuttgart proper. The buffet breakfast provided as part of our room charge was quite good - wonderful cheeses, meats, eggs and the bread - nobody can make bread like the Germans. Thankfully all the walking we did while sightseeing burned off the carbohydrates consumed in the baked goods! We would recommend this hotel for those traveling to Stuttgart who do not mind staying a bit away from the city center.
