Location:
The hotel is not right in the centre of the city. But there´s a really excellant subway connection (U14) really right around the corner of the hotel, which leads in 3 minutes to the City Centre and also to the concert hall "Liederhalle" and the main station (about 10 minutes) without having to change the subway. Into the other direction one can travel to the nice zoo and botanic garden "Wilhelma" without changing.
On the other hand there is a 8 track- street with lots of traffic right in front of the hotel. With open window, this makes a lot of noise. But if the window is closed, you won´t nearly hear that noise. For people who need an open window at night, it´s important to ask for a room heading to the backside of the hotel.
Rooms:
My room was very clean. It had a TV with Teletext, two chairs, a desk, one mirror and one water bassin. All lights were working and the room was in good shape. The window was good. Sometimes I heard the noise of people from other rooms or from the hallway.
I had a room with shower and WC on the floor, both were in good condition and clean.
The hotel has one lift, which is from the 70ties, but working well.
It seems to have 4 floors.
I was totally satisfied with the room.
Breakfast
Breakfast is served from 7 to 10 am. It was very good, a buffet was offered, including several rolls, different kinds of cheese and sausage, eggs, cornflakes and fruits, two kinds of juice, tea and coffee. I asked for a hot chocolate, which was given to me and was very good.
Staff
The one negative point about the hotel was that some of the staff were rather unfriendly, though not rude. They were a bit unattentive.
For instance, when I first checked in, the young man with the glasses on the reception didn´t say hello or anything like that. I think that some of them (especially the younger ones) could really be more friendly. It seems like the guests get rather on their nerves. I had to ask where the room was. Before that, the younger man forgot to give the key to me and before that the he was having a dispute with his mother, who also works there and maybe owns the hotel. This gave a very bad first impression and he didn´t apologize for it at all.
The mother and an older man (the hotel seems to be a family- owned hotel) are more friendly, though still reserved.
Conclusion:
If you don´t mind missing personal greetings and stuff like that, this is a really good hotel for a good price. I would stay there again, if I would be in Stuttgart for a few days.
