Excellent breakfast buffet and friendly efficient staff. The TV channels were however limited to German and the quality of my evening meal on the one night i dined there was a disappointment. Otherwise an excellent choice and only a few minutes walk to the centre of stuttgart.

Typical Mercure hotel, although decor showing its age a bit now. 5 of us staying here for business, main gripe is that the magnetic stripe room entry key system to the rooms needs replacing as they no longer work well and you have to get into all sorts of ways to bend the card to get it to work. (not good after a few beers). Also area outside main entrance now used for smokers so is very shabby and covered with cigarette ends.

However rooms clean, windows open for fresh air and price reasonable although internet has to be paid for.
Breakfast is standard fare and quality. Evening meal was good, but avoid crispy garlic bread (worst I'd ever tasted).

The staff was very helpfull and professional. The location was perfect for us. We did not eat in the restaurant this time but have in the past and the food is very, very good. Overall I rate this as an exceptional value and would stay there again.

The hotel is still accaptable reachable within walking distance from the main train station ("Hauptbahnhof") of Stuttgart: exit train station right towards "LBBW" bank, always straight down the road (with train tracks right of you), cross a road bridge and one road. There you are after maybe 1,5 km. Anyhow the surrounding has no supermarkets or bars to offer and I agree with previous review "a bit far from everything"... the hotel value, service quality and rooms are all good, but the hotel name "city center" doesn't fit the real location. For same money I'd prefer next time to go to the nearby IBIS hotel "Stuttgart City" (a bit further, but also further away from that noisy main road... since you probably take the S-Bahn anyway, it's only one stop later) or the IBIS Stuttgart Centrum. The rooms at IBIS may be a bit less "comfort level" than Mercure, but their location makes it up for it. And IBIS Stuttgart interiour is newer than Mercure.
