I stayed at this hotel and was so happy with the service I decided to write a review. First of all the location is excellent, very close to the train station, tram stops and a short walk into the centre of Mannheim. Secondly, the breakfast is great, lots of variety and I appreciated that they had a toaster!!

But the winning formula for this hotel is their staff. They were absolutely the most helpful and friendly people I've encountered in a hotel ever!! They were willing to help out whenever I asked and believe me I asked alot!! I needed to source some places around Mannheim and as I don't speak German this made my life alot easier. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend you stay here because you'll know that if you need any help, they will do their utmost for you. When I visit Mannheim again, I will certainly stay at Hotel am Bismarck.

Central, quiet, clean, well if plainly decorated; a thoroughly pleasant and comfortable hotel.

I arrived during a heatwave, so was specially pleased to find that the room had an efficient and easily worked air-conditioning system. And it was also the time of the German football team's success in the World Cup, so having the windows closed against the revelry was another boon.

A couple of further positives: the breakfast was in a light, airy and spacious room, and the food good (coffee, as ever, aside). And for train travellers, the location is an easy five-minute walk from the main station.

The hotel is very conveniently located - about 5 minutes walk from the central railway station. When I came, I was greeted by the owner's wife - a very pleasant lady, who explained where everything was and encouraged me to contact her in case I had any queries. She was extremely helpful, and when I mentioned that I wanted to travel to a couple of towns in the neighborhood, she printed out the train timetables for me from the Internet, and even gave me some advice about the sights I might want to visit.

My single room was very spacious. It faced a rather busy street, but with the air conditioning in the room that was not a problem - I could keep the window closed during the night. The bathroom was comfortable, with nice thick towels.

Breakfast was excellent, with a big variety of cheese and sausage, fruit and vegetables, and some hot dishes. It was served at the big dining room dowstairs, so there was always plenty of room for the guests. There is also a bar downstairs, where you can always have a cup of coffee.

The hotel offers free wi-fi in all the rooms, which I found very convenient as I was traveling on business and had my laptop with me.

As a final touch, when I returned to the hotel in the evening on the eve of my departure, I found a dish with different kinds of fruit in my room as a compliment from the hotel!

The people at the reception were always friendly and helpful. On the whole, I really enjoyed my stay, and I would recommend this hotel to anyone who has to travel to Mannheim.

Its family run hotel, and people who run it are amazing with positive attitude, really, really friendly and very helful!!! I woukld highly recomended!! The breakfast at the hotel its amazing, so prefectly prepared and with variouse choices!!! Go for it!!!
