Nearly everytime I travel for business to Mannheim/Ludwigshafen, I stay at the Dorint. It is quite usual to be rather flatly welcomed at the reception. Anything I usually ask requires the consultation of another person and another as entrepreneurship is a not a front desk required competency. Today was no different. I mistakenly booked a fixed rate but had to cancel part of the trip. This could not be changed I was told as AmEx card was already invoiced and cannot be credited, the second front desk person advised. I asked to be called byt he reservation department who repeated the same story. ON my suggestion to change the rate for the nights I would stay and then refund the rest, I was told a Director needed to be contacted.
In my room, as usual, no aircon, no wifi and no soap/shower gels amenities but a shower/hair wash combo for everything including handwash.
In addition the swimming pool is nothing more than a semi-circular plunge pool and the fitness center although free of charge is 10 min walk away. This is supposed to be one of the nicest hotels in Mannheim. When will they get the word "service" ? My advice : stay away and go to the Holiday Inn instead or the Maritim, just opposite.
