brilliant hotel, great staff, not used to catering for large crowds but were very accommodating, not enough pint glasses at beginning of week and were unable to keep up with our drinking but towards end of week they were on top of their game. Breakfast was a great spread. Only fault there was no air con in rooms, ask for fan on arrival

Good location, walking distance to sites. Nice and friendly staff. Complementary WiFi ( not always the case in other similar hotels). Good value for money, paid 119€ for a double room with breakfast (was 138€ in Ibis and no free internet).

The hotel is very nice but the rooms do not have air conditioning. It means that you have to open the windows to get fresh air which makes it very noisy during the night. It's perfectly fine all year but not in the summer time

I've stayed here twice on business, most recently October '09. If I have only one negative on the hotel, it's the location in regards to the city center. While it is great for visitors arriving by train (due to it's location directly next to the station), others who've been here before may find it a bit far from anything else. The rooms are spectacular, breakfasts and dinners offer a wide selection and are excellent, and the staff must be commended for their friendliness.
Another minor quibble I have is there is no free wi-fi / LAN connection-- free access is only available on the lobby computer, or you can buy internet time at reception. This would be a big plus especially to those traveling on business.

As I find myself in the area more frequently, I've been looking for something more centrally located. It's much easier to meet with friends/colleagues after work :)
However, I know what to expect from Residenz, and that's quality. An addition of free wi-fi would be a major positive, but maybe only necessary for business travelers.

Residenz definitely warrants your consideration when staying in Karlsruhe!
