I'm afraid I can't attest to the level of comfort of this hotel, since our party of 4 never made it there-- Herr Martin retracted our booking the very day before our arrival!
A word to the wise: buyer beware. Hotels occasionally overbook, and, while inconvenient, it's a pretty understandable mix-up, especially during high-season. However, there was no excuse for Martin's rudeness to me on the phone.
My fiancé initially contacted the hotel by email to give our dates and request a booking, and received an automated reply that, while informative, didn't confirm anything. So we called. The lady on the phone said that they had plenty of room, and just to reconfirm by email a day or two before our arrival.
We sent an email two days before, as promised, and received a strangely brusque response from Martin: "You have no booking at my hotel." We were baffled, so I immediately called. He was quite friendly at first, until I gave my name. He became very defensive and kept interrupting while I tried to explain the situation. I would have understand his tone if I had been angry myself, but I was very calm and polite... confused, not angry! That was why his behavior was all the more egregious.
After interrupting me and refusing to listen to a word I said-- and denying that his colleague had ever taken our reservation down-- he said "I am not going to discuss this further." I was completely taken aback. I told him I understood that the booking was lost, but that I wanted him to know that there was, in fact, a booking made, and he yelled "all right, fine, you're right and I'm wrong. Happy? Now GOODBYE!" and then he slammed down the phone.
I apologize for writing such a lengthy post, but I am utterly dismayed at the foul treatment my family and I received while attempting to reserve this hotel. I don't want to cast aspersions, but my fiancé has a very typically Jewish name, and there was just something so strange about the way this man retracted our reservation after another woman had already taken it down. Draw your own conclusions... but there are plenty of lovely accomodations in the area, and my personal recommendation would be to go somewhere else!
