“Great location and value”

We were very happy with Pension Jeske! Martin Pfeffer's service (and English) was superb, friendly and accommodating. Martin is a one-man operation and is not at the hotel all the time, so you need to be somewhat self-sufficient. The pension is authentically 250 years old and has a lot of charm. Rooms were small, as one would expect for a one-star hotel, especially one so centrally located, but they were clean and comfortable. Common bathroom and shower was clean and stocked, with good pressure and water temperature. The weather was unseasonably hot and humid and there is no airconditioning (almost no one has it) - a room fan would have been a good addition. We faced the street, which was a little noisy with occasional morning construction, but you could get a non-streetside room. No breakfast is offered on-site, but many cafes are nearby. The location could not be better: 1/2 block from the Hauptstrasse, Marktplatz and the Heiliggeistkirche, 2 blocks to the funicular to the castle (which is also the bus stop from the train station), 5 min walk to the Old Bridge. We had a triple room which was not easy to find in other hotels. We were out and about all day long and so opted for a budget hotel to provide bed and shower only. All in all I thought it was a great value for 75 Euro a night. I would definitely stay here again and would recommend it to anyone looking for a centrally-located, budget hotel.

“Place is inexpensive for Heidelberg, But construction is going on”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 May 2010

Starts at 7:30am everyday. And it is LOUD! The rooms were cheap and clean, but the construction unbearable. Verify if it is still going on before you book.

“Extraordinary location, but virtually unstaffed and very loud”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 August 2009

We spent only one night here and were very happy with the room itself, which was quite clean and charming. Although we shared a bath, no one else seemed to be there so we had it to ourselves. The hotel could not have a better location, about half a block to the main square of enchanting Heidelberg. The cost of the location, however, was noise: shouting students returning from the night out drinking, and not long after, trucks unloading outside (the pounding was so loud that I thought it came from the hallway). The lack of staffing was weird; there are 2 hour-and-a-half blocks in the afternoon available for check-in, a bit of a window on either end when the staff is in the office, and then it's virtually a dorm, with no one in sight. One pays in cash and no breakfast is offered. The hotel made no claims it didn't fill, and basically we were happy except for the noise interfering with sleep

“Unbeatable location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 December 2008

I read this website before booking Pension Jeske, read about Martin and how interesting the place seemed. It did not disappoint in the least.

First thing is to understand the Heidelberg train station is quite far from the medieval center and, therefore, from Pension Jeske. Don't walk, and if you are currying bulky luggage forget about public transport and just take a taxi.

With that said, I can easily endorse Pension Jeske as an excellent place to stay in in Heidelberg. Martin was really nice to us. Just like I read in the other reviews, he brought a map the first time he met us (meaning me and my girlfriend) and showed us not only all the cool places to see in Heidelberg, but also a route to follow and maximize efficiency!

The room was great: probably the biggest we had in our European sojourn, and possibly the largest you'll see for that price in the continent. Remember there are no meals, but there are a lot of great restaurants just a few meters away, in the main pedestrian area around the city's Rathaus and kirche.

To summarize: great price, unbeatable location, spacious room, friendly host.

“freeze in heidelberg but classical ambience”

if you like to be hosted classically in center heart of heidelberg on a rapid search you will find a pension jeske ,cllassical with no TV or radio but with wireless link,[--],owend by Michael Pfeiffer.a gentle man veri affable which welcome you very friendly.
The location of the house is very affordable for touristic purpouse, with good furniture good security ,a little noisy like a half time student pension with no acces to the kitchen,no breakfast, and in winter you will need the first day to warm the old thick walls of the room.do not forget a hair dryer which can assist you in the cold fight. Please do not complain about cold because the attitude of your host can change.
in rest is quite ok
best wishes
cristian
