This is a small three star hotel, located on a pedestrian street, just steps away from the main pedestrian shopping area and riverfront. We stayed just one night on New Year’s Eve. Check in was fast, efficient and very personalized. A good recommendation was given to us for obtaining a last minute dinner reservation. The room was smallish, uninspiring (but the rest of the hotel is very charming with many nice touches) but very clean and functional with a small flat screen TV and heated towel racks. Internet is free throughout the hotel and we were given the sign in but were not able to access the sign in page and unable to use the internet. Reception was unable to assist us. Breakfast was included in the price and we were delighted with it! German standards are already very high for buffet breakfasts and this hotel exceeded it with a beautifully presented buffet and all the favorite German standards. The out of season tropical fruit was amazing featuring dragon fruit, guava, papaya, watermelon, fresh pineapple, leech fruit and a fruit cocktail with lingberries! It was excellent! Overall we really enjoyed our short stay here and would definitely stay again.

I stayed at the Goldene Rose October 8th to the 11th and on October 17th. The staff were extremely helpful, courteous and genuinely friendly. Helped set up the GPS in the car, moved the car and went out of their way to be helpful w/ recommendations etc. Room was on the small side , nicely furnished and immaculate. Public areas are very attractive.... a kind of lounge area with comfortable seating....lots of nice flowers out front w/ small fountains. Very nicely done and charming The hotel is in a great location at the beginning of Haupstrasse(my spelling may be off)......this is a long pedestrian street closed to traffic in the old part of the city. We came into Heidelberg with a reservation at a different hotel, but this summer in Europe was especially HOT. We had come from Karlsruhe where we stayed with no A.C. and had two very restless nights. So AC was a must. When we realized that the hotel we reserved at didn't have AC, we decided to move on. We tried the Crowne Plaza, but it was a little rich for our blood. They kindly let us use the lobby and we called the Tourist Bureau, who led us to the Goldene Rose!

When you walk in there is a little babbling water feature, and the air is shady and cool. The room we had was very modern, completely updated, including the rolladen shutters, which are great. The window looked directly out onto the main pedestrian area, it was quiet, but lively at the same time. Breakfast was included each day, and was really top notch. I enjoyed the quirky older style of the hotel, combined with the modern amenities. We loved being in the heart of things, and of course, the air conditioning!! It was hot, what can I say?

The staff was gracious and kind, there was free internet access in the lobby and free wireless in the rooms, the elevator was tiny, but there, and the stroller fit. However, not all rooms had AC, and I think that some may have not yet been remodeled.

This hotel was brilliant !! We arrived by car hot and tired; the young lady in reception helped us to the superb aircon cooled room ( no lift unfortunately ) with our bags and then parked our car in the hotel garage.
Breakfast was just about best we have ever had. Great value for money. If we go to Heidelberg again we will defintely go for this hotel.
One minor black mark, the web site suggested that the garaging is free. It isn't, but on the other hand the car was immediately to hand and in a secure situation.
