This house transformed into a hotel is conveniently placed 2 minutes walk from Bismarkplatz (which can easily be reached by bus or tram from the railway station) and at the beginning of the pedestrian area. It wasn't what I was looking for, but with a last minute booking it was the only one I found. I booked it through tripadvisor and hotel.de.
The rooms are standard, but there's NO airconditioning ... hence in a hot summer night it must be very uncomfortable, since you cannot even leave the window open ... unless you like to be seen by those living in the building accross the one way street. The shutter couldn't come down completely due to the flowers put on the window sill.
There is an *elevator* ONLY in the first stairs entrance after the reception (rooms from 39 to 50 something), the other one (rooms from 10 to 38) is stairs only (and at the 1st floor there is the room where they serve breakfast). I was lucky because I was given a room in the part with elevator. To acceed to the two stairs and your room you have to go through the garage entrance.
The breakfast is great, with lots of options and in included in the price of the rooms, as well as free wifi internet connection.
