This is a friendly clean hotel. We booked a room for three thru booking.com. Beds were comfy. Shower worked well. Parking available. Grocery store right down the street. AC in room, which we needed. Bus into town across the street. About 10 minute drive to downtown Heidelberg.

Hotel Heidelberg is a clean, basic hotel on the outskirts of town. The staff was friendly and spoke excellent English. Our room had a bed, nightstand, desk, small television and en suite bathroom. The shower was the standard European size (small, but manageable), although the door to it was quite narrow. The bed was also typical of what we've found in Germany- a double frame, but consisting of two single-size mattresses, and the coverings consisted of a fitted sheet, a fluffy down duvet and large, square pillows. At our request (at the time of reservation), the hotel was able to put a mini-fridge in the room. We were down in the basement, so our room did smell a touch musty when we first arrived, but once we popped open the window it aired out very quickly. We also only got cell phone reception if we left our phones in the window sill, which was a bit nerve wracking because it was our first night away from our baby; the reception was fine in the rest of the hotel, so if that's an issue for you (or you want access to the internet), don't book a basement room!

The hotel has a public restaurant and offers a breakfast buffet for guests. The buffet may or may not be included in your price, depending on how you place the reservation. It is advertised as an American buffet, but it's really a nice mix of American and German- there are eggs, bacon and sausage, as well as pastries, cereal, German cold cuts, olives, tomato & mozzarella, etc. The food was all quite tasty. We arrived at the tail end of breakfast, and there was very little bacon & sausage left and no scrambled eggs, but the kitchen was happy to whip up an enormous plate of eggs for us.

If your goal is to see Heidelberg, this hotel may not be your best choice because it is a bit out from the city center, but we were there for an event at the US Army Garrison (Patrick Henry Village) which was an easy 5-10 minute drive away.

My mother, husband and myself stayed here in October 2010 for 3 nights. The hotel rooms are what you would expect for the price but they were clean. Toiletries were replaced and the room was tidied each day. The washroom was also clean....something that was painfully lacking when we arrived in Munich at a 5* hotel.

The breakfast was awesome! I wish I could have eaten more. The selection was great and everything was carefully refilled.

Sebastian at the reception was excellent. What a nice young person and a compliment to this hotel. Despite the language barrier (we know absolutely no German) he was very accomodating and helpful with directions, replenishments etc. He is a credit to this hotel.

We ate dinner at the hotel twice and it was very good. I don't eat pork so there was a limited menu but both times I managed to find something that was very tasty. The salad is one of the best I've ever had.

Everything was efficient and clean in this hotel. The staff are very friendly and I would definitely recommend this hotel.

It was very easy to access the Hotel Heidelberg and parking was convenient beside of the hotel. The front desk staff was very helpful and courteous. There was a computer in the lobby and wi-fi for customer’s use. The hotel is located about 1 block from the end of the tram line, so it was easy to go back and forth to the old section of Heidelberg. It was approximately 20 minutes downtown on the tram. Since we were staying only 1 night, we chose to stay in a basement room. We wish we had chosen differently. It was not bad, but we could hear people walking in the upstairs and felt uncomfortable with sleeping with an open window since it was ground level. That being said, the room was clean and good sized. We ate in the restaurant for dinner and the food was typical German and we liked it. Breakfast was also good. We would stay there again -- but in an upstairs room!
