The Hotel Hirschgasse is a real gem! It is situated in a residential area, at the foot of a hill (far away enough from the "crowds" of tourists, but only a 15-minute walk to the old town). The hotel offers a free outdoor parking. We lodged in the Peking Suite, decorated with both Chinese and European features. The room was huge, so was the bathroom. We were happy to finish our holidays in Hirschgasse, because of the personal touch (the hotel boasts lots of history!) and service. We were offered a glass of sparkling wine upon arrival (and a complimentary bottle of red wine was definitely a nice and unexpected bonus). We had dinner in their traditional restaurant, and it was delicious and well presented (bravo to the French Chef!). The breakfast was also fabulous. The Hirschgasse Hotel is most certainly a come back place!

This is not a modern hotel, so if you are looking for modern conveniences (e.g. Air Conditioning) it may not be for you. A previous reviewer mentioned "Laura Ashley" and I agree that pretty much sums it up. However, there are lots of little touches for those who don't mind: Very warm and efficient reception staff, the fact that it IS quaint, your name outside your door (hand written) a welcome package including wine and genuine charm. It has parking, is quietly located but not so far from the centre for those who remember what their feet are for. It's a very pleasant walk indeed along the river path to the bridges.
It also boast one the finest restaurants we've eaten in, which I've submitted a separate review for. If you want exceptional cuisine and a very nice place to stay rolled into one, it's easy to recommend here.

This is a lovely hotel decorated in exquisite furnishings and Laura Ashley fabric. The receptionist couldn't have been nicer or more helpful. Our rooms were very spacious and luxurious - top notch hotel. It's an easy walk to the old quarter and the castle with postcard perfect views every step of the way. It was our splurge hotel! We skipped the breakfast as it seemed very high for a nice but typical German breakfast.

Stayed here for two nights. The room was very spacious, it was a deluxe room. It was very clean. The bathroom was huge. The people running the hotel are really lovely and very accommodating. The hotel is very beautiful on the outside and apparently rich in history. It is about a 15 minute walk to the old town. The breakfast is very expensive 21euro per person. The only minus is that the walk from the old town is not bad the last few minutes are uphill since the hotel in on a hilly street. Otherwise it is a very lovely place, we will return.
