Great location in the downtown but the rooms we received are dated as another recent reviewer mentioned. Staff were attentive and genuine interested in our stay. Hotel was surprisingly quiet over the Easter weekend. Breakfast was fantastic but @ 22 EUR each gets expensive for a family of 5 there for a weekend... The pricing model needs to be updated to allow for family travels for the extras - too much nickel & diming for extra fees for internet / pool access, etc.

Having now visited this hotel, which some reviewers described in wonderful terms, we were left wondering if we had stayed at a different hotel. Whilst everything is very pleasant and the staff attentive, the hotel is just a little bit old and tired. The rooms were pleasant, but nothing special. The pillows were truly awful and everyone in our group of 5 commented on them affecting their sleep. As a top hotel, they pride themselves that "naturally with a hotel such as ours" access to the leisure facilities is not free for guests but 15 Euros per person per day is a bit excessive for a small indoor pool. Also, internet access is ridiculously expensive. As a guest, the hotel gives the impression that if you are interested in the cost of anything them don't come.

We stayed for 3 nights in early October and enjoyed every minute of our stay! The hotel has an old world elegant feel. We loved spending time in the lobby rooms and bar area. We highly recommend the hotel restaurant. The maitre d' and sommelier were outstanding and very helpful and treated us as if we were frequent guests. The food was superb as well. Our room had a courtyard view but was more towards the street than courtyard but that didn't bother us at all. The room was well appointed and maintained, and most importantly, clean. I loved the turn down service every night, bathrobes, slippers and clean sheets every day, can't get that in the States very often. We had ample to room for all our clothes and luggage considering that we had be traveling for several weeks and this hotel was our next to last stay of our journey through France and Germany. The hotel is a few blocks from the hub of the city and the river but a very comfortable walk and we enjoyed coming back to the quiet of our hotel after a busy day of touring, eating and shopping. If you are looking for a hotel with more excitement and nightlife, this is not the hotel for you. If you are looking for a hotel that demonstrates old world German charm, this is the hotel for you. We will be back for a future visit.

Rooms were spacious, service exemplary, buffet breakfast amongst the best in Europe.
A wonderful welcoming friendly atmosphere.
