“Great experience!!!”

The hotel is right by the Neckar river and the location is perfect. The Alte Brücke is just meters away from the Hotel. You can also walk small distances to all the attractions in Heidelberg like Schloss, the Student Prison (Studentenkarzer), and walked along the Neckar river and across the Alte Brücke. We saw important historical buildings like the Haus zum Ritter next to the Marktplatz, the Heiliggeistkirche (Holy Ghost Church), the Universitätsbibliothek (University Library), the Jesuitenkirche (Jesuit’s Church) in Schulgasse.

The staff is really friendly and very helpful. Since it is a family hotel you get to meet the owner. The breakfast every morning is fresh and delicious.

I recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Heidelberg

Room Tip: Great location to enjoy Heidelberg

“Best location in the city!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 January 2012

I studied at the University of Heidelberg as an exchange student in 2003-04, so I know the city and its major attractions quite well. With this in mind, I've stayed in a great number of places around Heidelberg, and I can honestly say that the Hotel Vier Jahreszeiten offers one of the best locations in the city for a very reasonable price.

The rooms themselves are small (everything in the Old City is tight), but they're very clean, and the bathrooms have been recently renovated and modernized. One drawback is the stairs; there is no elevator, so be prepared to lug your suitcase up the stairs. In fairness to the hotel, I should mention that both times I've stayed there, Herr Weil has generously carried my suitcase up to the third floor -- something I greatly appreciate!

The breakfast is lovely -- typically European, and specifically, very German -- consisting of crusty little Kaiser rolls with various cold cuts and cheeses, flavoured yogurts, a glass of fresh orange juice, and muesli. Upon your arrival in the breakfast room, you are given your own individual pot of fresh tea or coffee -- your choice.

We enjoyed Herr Weil's company and sense of humour, and loved being able to walk to all of Heidelberg's best spots. We would return to this hotel in a heartbeat!

Room Tip: For the best view, ask for a room facing the river. For a quieter room, ask for a hotel facing the b...

“Stay in the town house”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 November 2011

We stayed in the very comfortable townhouse associated with this hotel. Modern and updated, clean and comfortable. Breakfast available at the Hotel. Both Hotel and Townhouse located in the old town of Heidelberg, the best place to stay to see the castle and visit the sights and history of the town.

Room Tip: Stay in the Townhouse

“Great hotel in perfect location, friendly service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 October 2011

This hotel was very affordable, with a fantastic location. We were in a quadruple room for one night, and the hotel door literally opens to the river and famous bridge. The main shopping and food areas are just a few minutes walk. The hotel is a bit outdated, but I thought it added to the charm of being an older historic building in the heart of old town. It was very clean. Breakfast was great, and the owner of the hotel was extremely warm and friendly. Overall for the value, I couldn't have expected a better stay.

“Beware, what you book is not always what you get”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 September 2011

The hotel is beautifully located at the heart of the old town. I booked there and landed in their so-called annex, which is another hotel altogether, the Hotel Cafe Schnoesel, many doors away at the other end of the same city block. They say they own it and that should excuse their trick. As you might guess the room was on top on a Kneipe (where you can trink beer in large quantities) so the loud noises ended only a 2:45 in the morning, every single night. Access is through a steep staircase (no elevator). The bathroom is very modern, but the rest is kind of old and a nice layer of dust was everywhere on the tables and never got cleaned. The bed was sagging. Wireless internet was erratic and did not work for a full night. The porter did not know how to unlock my phone to make calls. Service was very kind but did not help much. Altogether this was a very unpleasant experience. Fortunately the location itself was great.

Room Tip: Refuse the annex, stay only in the real hotel on the river side
