I stayed in the intercity for 4 nights in late July 2010. This is a tall multi-storied hotel, with no shade, which seems to absorb the heat of the admittedly very hot Freiburg Summer heat. I have never stayed in as hot and stuffy a room. The people next to us had kids and had the door of their room open for the night in an attempt to get air. The absence of air-con indicates that this hotel has nothing but contempt for their paying guests. My experience was poor from the start. The first room provided was not made up. Returning to reception it appeared this was our fault rather than the hotels! We were then given another room. On exiting the lift it was clear this was a smoking floor and smoking room, so back to reception. In the third room provided the key card would not work. Again the perception from reception staff was we were at fault. Rather than checking the key the person at reception came with me to the room to show me how to use the key!...wow it did not work for her either. Three attempts later, a fully functioning key was provided. I am only sorry at that point we did not leave as we then had four days of stifling heat. I understand Freiburg is the hottest part of Germany, so a tall hotel, with no shade must surely have this problem every year. The location is good, but the tram system is so good in Feiburg (and as you get free public transport card from your hotel), I would advise anyone to just get on a tram and go to a hotel in centre where there is shade and personality. This experience will make me change my booking criteria for the future. Convenience is of little use if you can't sleep! AVOID

During our recent business trip we stayed a few nights at this hotel. Although the hotel itself is located on the train station we were not affected by the noise from the station, infact we really enjoyed the buzz of it all. Centrally located and with free access to public transport ( free pass given by hotel). and discounted private parking. We will most certainly use this hotel again,

It's location is ideal: adjacent to the rail station. But it is definitely not noisy. It is an easy walk to see many of the main sights. The station has many places to buy coffee and food. It didn't have air con, but we didn't need it. Our room did have a desk fan. Customer service was good, and the room gave us room to move around with bumping into each other.
